A word of advice

Hi ladies.....

Can you tell i'm feeling the baby itchChat Icon

I have seen a few posts about carseats and I thought I would offer a word of advice....

My DD is 13.5months and weighs 23lbs. That's pretty avarege for a 1yr old. We had a Chicco key fit 30 and at 10months or 18lbs she was in her Graco my ride 65. I say this because while the 32 and 35lb carseats are great I CAN NOT imagine having my DD in an infant carseat still. I think that between 8 and 11months is a pretty good time to switch them. It gets so heavy and being in the "big girl" seat is so much fun for her. She has a ton of room, and it's so easy to put her in and get her out into the stroller. She loves the independence of it.

Anyway I just wanted to offer my perspective on this...you can take it as some more unsolicited adviceChat Icon

Thanks...also keep in mind that not most kids are 35lb and 30 inches! DD is 23lbs and 29inches so while she can meet the weight she is at the top for height. Around 8 months or so babies stop gaining so fast since they are crawling and they start to lengthen not grow wider. Just something to consider.

Re: A word of advice

See, I have to disagree.

Tyler was 23lbs at his 6 month checkup, and at that point I was not ready to put him in the convertible carseat.

I ended up borrowing one with a 30lb limit and that got me another two months, and at that point - it was perfect.

Knowing what I know now I wouldn't but the one with the lowest weight limit. Chat Icon

Same exact thing happened with me...DD was 22 lbs at her 6 mos checkup and 29 inches...I also borrowed the 30 lb Graco Snugride just to hold me over another month or so...at 6 mos I was SO not ready to give up the infant seat or the Snap-N-Go.
I do have to say though...I probably would still buy the lightest weight Graco Snugride in hopes my 6 mo old would still fit in it...this bigger one I borrowed is SO heavy with DD in it. My entire right arm has aches and pains just from the lifting it in and out of the car in the last month. I never carry it anywhere...not into the house or anything. I live in an elevator building so it's just in and out of the car into and out of the snap-n-go. So just from that my arm is killing me....we are now ready to switch her to the convertible at almost 25lbs at 8 mos old.

Re: A word of advice

I agree wtih this 100%.
DD only weighs 17 pounds and it's already getting hard for me to lug her aruond in that thing.
I can't imagine having her in there up to like 30 lbs,...Chat Icon
I wouldn't be able to lift it- no exageration.
Not to mention trying to get it up and into the base in the car.
I've already pulled muscles, hurt my back, etc and I think I am getting a hernia.

I can't wait to take her out of this thing!
