A spin-off to my own thread about feeding 9-10 month olds

Okay, so now I have ideas for incorporating real table food. Thanks! Chat Icon

But my next question is, how do you do this with regards to daycare, if your DC is in f/t?

The baby food jars seem like the easiest way, of course. But I often see the other kids in DC eating pancakes, waffles for breakfast (though I don't know if I really want to get her addicted to that yet so I'll just keep her on cereal for now). I haven't noticed what they do for lunch or dinner.

Do you just pre-make all this stuff and cut it up for them to give? I also wonder if I'd be preparing enough if I did this!

Probably a very stupid question!Chat Icon But I'm curious as to how you manage it all. It's enough work getting her ready for DC the next day as it is...now to add this to the routine!Chat Icon

TIA!

Christopher was in daycare at that age and I found them to be very helpful with the table food stuff (i.e. gave me ideas I would have had no idea aboutChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon )

I used to send in a waffle or pancake cut up in a take and toss container and then lunch was whatever he had for dinner (like grilled cheese cut up or mac and cheese or whatever)

Snacks were goldfish and cereal bars and string cheese.

But his teachers were great, I would have never known about Earth's Best cereal bars with out Miss MarinaChat Icon

I make stuff and freeze it in portions. For instance. I make a meatloaf and I slice it and freeze it in a big ziploc bag.

Then I make sides.. like orzo pasta with cheeze and tiny diced broccoli or carrots or something. I freeze that in ice cube trays. Then when they are frozen I also bag them up. I can pop two ice cubes into a take and toss with some meatloaf.. lunch!

Or I make meatballs (tiny) and freeze them flat on a cookie sheet so that they don't stick together. Once they are frozen I put them in a bag also.

I have made chicken soup and frozen it also.

I made rice pudding and I froze it in muffin tins and popped them into a bag when they were done. I am currently making little shepards pies in muffin tins and I will freeze them. I also made orzo with carrots, broccoli, zucchini and cheese and I froze that in ice cube trays.

I also send yogurt a lot. I send cottage cheese with some diced up fruit. Or just baby oatmeal and diced up fruit. I send pancakes and waffles. We just make extra on the weekends and freeze them.

I send things like:

snack sized cups of cottage cheese
cut up fruit
cut up string cheese
any leftovers from dinner the night before for lunch (only sometimes)
Yogurt

Usually for breakfast, I have them give her cottage cheese with some fruit.

Lunch is usually yogurt, and some fruit again if shes still hungry.

Or sometimes I send pasta for lunch

Snacks/cheese/fruit/cheerios/puffs, etc....
