A Question about needles.....
So I just started my Lupron injections last week and although I have always had a major needle phobia, these honestly aren't so bad. But....I know I am not out of the woods....can you all tell me how bad the other needles are? Is the stim medicine also given in the stomach and are the needles bigger? How about the trigger shot? I know the Progesterone shots are a nightmare but I don't think I will have to do them as my RE does the suppositores (at least that is what I heard!)
I am also going to be on Lovenox if I get pregnant. Anyone know what size needles that is?
Thanks in advance, these are things that keep me up at night?

Re: A Question about needles.....
All of the subQ ones are pretty much the same as the Lupron.
The gonal-f, etc are very thin needles... and if you trigger with Ovidrel that is also thin.
Are you doing IVF or IUI?
If you're doing IVF you might do Novarel which is an IM injection - so that's a big needle and that one did hurt.. but the pain is so temporary!
I've done the PIO also and it's honestly NOT that bad. The anticipation is much worse than the shot itself and the worst part is having a sore tush!
No worries!

Re: A Question about needles.....
The stim needles are bigger but I had no problems with them whatsoever. I barely felt them.
The PIO needles are even bigger but to tell you the truth, I never actually looked at them myself. DH did all the work behind my back (literally) including the disposing. Those hurt but just a TINY bit and I knew I was doing it for a good cause.

Re: A Question about needles.....
My trigger shot was ovidrel and it was easy as could be. I'd have to say I really didn't even feel it. The lovenox shots. Aren't so bad. The needles are really small, it stings a little afterwards, sometimes more than others, but certainly bareable. It seems to sting more if you are to close to a previous injection. At first dh always did it for me but now I mostly do it myself. No worries its not bad.

Re: A Question about needles.....
This may not be the same for everyone, but for some reason I thought the Lupron needles were much worse than the stim needles (I was on Follistim).
The PIO injections are a bit of a different story, but if the rest of us can do it, you can too. Best of luck!

Re: A Question about needles.....
I did Follistim and the needles were nothing. The Ovidrel was the same.
If you trigger with HCG it is an IM needle- longer and thicker. Same does for PIO injections. I agree with maybeamommy- the anticipation is much worse than the actual injection.

Re: A Question about needles.....
I've had no problem with any of the needles, including Lovenox which is nothing. The PIO and trigger is done in your backside and looks worse than it is. I always do them myself because DH can't even look at needles.

Not all trigger HCG is IM.. I think it depends on the Dr. and which HCG med is used. All my triggers were sub-q.
The stim needles aren't bad at all. I was on Gonal-F which came in the form a pen.

Re: A Question about needles.....
I HATE NEEDLES, got anxiety when I have to have blood taken, etc. I had dh do my injections for me the 1st few times but after that I took over. They weren't bad at all, the anticipation of the needle was definately worse than the actually injection.
The only ones I wasn't too fond of were the PIO injections. Although dh gave those to me and it was more like he was stabbing me than injecting me.
