a new name question
while we are on the subject............
well, we are not announcing any name choices, so excuse me for being all secretive but I do have a question.
For my girl name:
There is a first name that I have always loved (like for the past 20 years).
There is a middle name that has a lot of meaning to me and my family. It's really not a good choice for a first name, though.
Here is the issue: With the above names, the combination of the first middle and last names sound OKAY together, but not wonderful. There is nothing wrong with the combo and it's not like the kid will get picked on. Sometimes I think that it sounds like a tongue twister but DH totally disagrees and loves the choice and how the combo sounds. I just don't see people raving that the baby has such a beautiful combination of names. There are so many combos that sound better but use only one of the names.
Should I:
Go with the first and middle names that have meaning to us, are lovely by themselves but just sound mediocre when combined?
Find a combo of first and middle names that sound gorgeous together?

hmmm. I think that it is rare when someone uses both of their names. I would go with what you like & not worry that it is not lyrical or a "beautiful" name. JMO

Re: a new name question
I think you should use the names that have meaning to you. If we have a girl I will be using the first name of a deceased family member as a middle name, it really isnt a middle name type of name and it probably wont sound great with the first names we like but, you know what, I dont care, its important to me and DH. Second, think of when you first got married I know I really didnt like the way my first and new last name sounded, but honestly after a few years I almost like it better than my maiden name. I think thats something that can grow on you especially if the name has special meaning.

ITA! How often will you refer to your daughter by both names, except when she's getting in trouble!

Re: a new name question
Go with whatever will make you happiest...My girls have 2 middle names b/c he wanted one thing and I wanted another...They are his mom and my mom and then Faith and Hope...overall it works out and the girls like that their names "mean" something..even if it is a mouth full.
