A new day...

and I still feel like garbage. Chat Icon
DH scraped me off the floor this morning and we went back to my RE for my CD3 sonogram. I didn't even care to go---- this is just too hard. Chat Icon
Anyway my ovaries are somehow larger than they were last week Chat Icon and I have HUGE cysts on them. Chat Icon Chat Icon So now no trying this month- drs orders- DH and I aren't even allowed to BD...not even just for fun Chat Icon
He said this is a common reaction for someone that responded to the meds like I did. I'm so tired of this. All I want to do is cry and I'm shutting everyone out--- I just can't cope with anything right now.
Also I wanted to get prescriptions filled for the IUI meds if he thought I wouldn't respond the same way next time--- and since they don't have a long shelf life- now that I have to take a month- maybe 2 depending on how my ovaries look in a few weeks--- I can't even get the meds now so my insurance will cover it. Insurance is running out in 3 days and I still don't have a backup plan... the cheapest I can find is $1700/month. Chat Icon Someone please shoot me now.

I'm so sorry, I know how hard it is to have to sit a cycle out. I hope you're able to figure something out with the insurance issues Chat Icon

Re: A new day...

I'm sorry you are feeling down. Is there any reason why you can't fill a prescription now? I don't think the shelf life is that short that they would go bad in a month or two but I'm not positive on that.

Would your DH consider IVF at this point? If so, you should look into the NY State grant. And what about Cobra, can't you do that for a few months?

Re: A new day...

I am so sorry, what kind of meds are you on? When I was doing injections, they have a shelve life of at least a year.

Re: A new day...

I wish I had left over meds, I would gladly give them to you.

See what you need and post a list on here. Maybe there are those who have left over meds who will donate them to you.

On my last cycle (which was the one that I got pg on), it was with meds donated to me from a coworker who had them left over from last summer. The expiration date was July 2007, and I used them in May. She just kept them in the fridge.

Re: A new day...

Get the meds now...they don't expire that quickly, they are usually good for about a year or more.
Sorry you are still feeling down, but with all the stress you have been under maybe a break is not an all bad idea.Chat Icon

Re: A new day...

the drs office still hasn't called me back!! Chat Icon i hope they're open tomorrow--- or at least checking messages. You don't think they'd be closed for new year's EVE do you? in a worst case scenario I could drive all the way back up there on monday if i had to--- or send DH if i'm not feeling up to it since i've gotten prescriptions from there before.
Unfortunately the closest place that the dr orders them from is all the way in stony brook which is like an hour from me! Chat Icon
i can't wait for 2008- it has to be better than this year. Chat Icon

you dont have to pick it up before the 1st of the year. As long as it is ordered by then, that is when the pharmacy will run it through your insurance

Re: A new day...

Also, you dont have to use that one pharmacy, and all the pharmacies I ever used delivered to me....most were in brooklyn and they even delivered to my job....you shouldnt have to go pick them up?? ( I live in Suffolk)

Second, DONT take this the wrong way with how your feeling, I mean this in the best way, you might need a break to get yourself mentally on track again.

IUI success rates are VERY low...Studies show most people are not successful till at least their 3rd one. ( I had 13) and many women have had a lot before moving on. If this one is making you this emotional, which is understandable...you have to try to center yourself enough to handle even more stress next time around, and if your considering IVf..its a whole nother ballgame.

While the success rate is much higher for IVF, the preparation, cost and emotions are a hundred fold what the IUI's are ( in my experience of course, I cant speak for everyone) ...

IVF is hard b/c with all the injections, you then need a surgical procedure for retrieval, transfer followed by bedrest and if paying out of pocket, you have to be prepared to possibly lose at least $10-20 thousand dollars.....that thought alone scared me badly.

Good luck to you...talk it out, make sure your husband is 100% on board, you cannot go further in this without a lot of mental support IMO.
