A little Vent

On friday I was informed that my parents will be moving to Florida shortly after the babies are born! Previously they told me they wouldn't move until 5 years but LI is way to expensive and they can't do it anymore. If I was pregnant they would be outt a here in a few month. I asked what about their first Christmas? You'll miss out on everything in there early lives. Time is so precious when they are that small and grow up so fast. They claim they are going to come up as much as they can and will see them all the time because of Skype. Skype is not the same as seeing them! The worst part is they are taking my 95 year old grandmother with them. She has waited forever to be a greatgrandmother and now that time is gonna be cut short. I am hurt that they are moving and won't be able to see them everyday. I can't let this stress me out..I have to wish them well and plan to go down when I can. I just can't believe they are gonna move right after the babies are born!! None of my friends understand why now? My sister moved there in June so they want to be closer to her and my other grandmother that lives there! Oh well..Nothing I can do about it!!!

Where are they moving? I can tell you from experience that it does suck to live far from your parents, but it's doable. You get through it and you find ways to incorporate them in your life. My parents live in Alaska, and they will MAYBE see their grand child once a year, so just think, it could be worse....

my parents are planning on moving late this year.. it stinks but they can't afford to stay in Long Island either and they have a house in Florida already and there friends are down there.. I feel your pain cause I know they don't want to miss out on things especially with their new grandchild being here..but I can understand why they have to move.. although I don't foresee them actually going even though they say they are!

I'm sorry, that does stink and it would have been nice if they could have waited a year or so but like you said you can't stress about it. Enjoy the time they are here and maybe the cost of living difference will be enough so they can come up a lot. Plus when they do come just pack the time with tons of activities and outings to make the most of that time. Your babies will get a lot out of it that way and as they get older will have great memories of their visits with grandma and grandpa!!

Ooo I forgot to mention where they are moving to didn't I?? It's Florida! I will edit my post. It would of been nice to wait a little bit maybe like a year before they moved. It stinks they plan to move right after the babies are born. DH feels so bad for me and can't believe they are doing this so soon! He's been very supportive!!

My parents moved to South Carolina right after I got married. I was so upset. It took me a while to get used to the idea. I was very upset when I got pregnant that they would miss so much. But it ended up being far from the truth. We make soo much more of an effort to see each other and spend more quality time together. I really now feel that we are closer then ever. They come up here for all "events" and Christmas. We go down there in between them coming up here. I hope it all works out for you. I know how hard it is.

A little Vent

My parents are in FL. They moved there 5 years ago and since then I have gotten married and both my sis and I have had babies. Life goes on for everyone. We can't expect others to not do things because of our lives.

Fl is a 2.5 hr flight. My parents visit 2x per year together and then they visit one other time separately. I also go there 2x a year. DS is only one and loved spendign the week after new years with my parents. You will jsut make the time they do see them funa nd special.
