Re: a little sad

To be honest it could be one of three things, you could be extra sensitive and took their reactions wrong, or they could be tentative to be excited given the recent history, or they could have just not be excited with no real reason! I'm sure it's most likely a combination of one and two!

Re: a little sad

I've had a loss as well. We didn't get the over-the-top reactions we got when we had our first, but I know it's because everyone is just as nervous as I am. My mom doesn't even take a breath until after the 20 week sono, I can see it each time.

Please don't feel that they are not excited, it's probably that they are nervous as well.

Congrats!!!Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

They could just be a little more reserved this time because of your loss. Speaking from experience when I had my fetal demise I didn't tell my family we were expecting again until I was 20

They could just be a little more reserved this time because of your loss. Speaking from experience when I had my fetal demise I didn't tell my family we were expecting again until I was 20 weeks because I was afraid of it happening again. They weren't excited(they didn't show it) more concerned with if this is really it. So try not to worry.

Good luck with everything

Re: a little sad

I made a similar post on PG after Infertility but I'm going through the same thing.

We had multiple losses over the last several years ranging from 4-17wks... singletons.. triplets.... Over NYE, we saw some friends we see maybe twice a year. My dh and I were dappling with the idea of telling them and then it came time for me to do PIO (an intramusular shot) while we were still at their place. They have a very small apartment and 8 of us were there that we couldn't really find a way to do it without people wondering what was going on. Between that and us hardly seeing them ever (the next time may be when I'm due, Gd willing I make it that far) so we told them so we could see their reactions in person. I'm telling you there was not so much as a blink. Not a FLINCH! It was almost as though we stood up and said "So, guess what! I have to go to the bathroom!!!" Chat Icon It was the most underwhelming reaction ever.

That was just one of a few other very ODD reactions from this pregnancy. I mean .. for what it's worth .. who could blame them for being hesitant for me this time? As it is we started out this round with two babies and now down to one... Who knows how this time will end for us ... But that's exactly why I like to marvel in good news and announce it while I still have the chance.

People just stink sometimes, I don't really know what else to say Chat Icon

Oh .. and I asked my friend since then about the odd reaction and she admitted it was hesitancy .. so there ya go. Blah.

Re: a little sad

I kind of know how you feel. This is my second pregnancy, I'm expecting twins. I have a 3 yr old who was conceived via IVF. That time around everyone knew - my mom, dad, family, friends. This time, my DH and I wanted to keep it to ourselves. When we were doing our cycle, that meant we had to miss out on some family functions and things bc we were tied to giving shots at a certain time etc. When we did tell my parents, their reaction was pretty emotionless. They are happy for us but it wasn't the same as the first time. I don't know, it was weird. But listen forget it - YOU ARE HAVING A BABY! Enjoy that Chat Icon

I felt underwhelmed at the reaction from my family too (except my sister). I think people are just overly cautious and take things differently. Regardless -- CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!! This is a very exciting time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
