a Good Stride Rite/shoe store?

when i was a kid we went to stride rite on main street and there were two older men and they fitted me and i got a good pair of shoes. they took their time and made sure the shoes fit well. now it seems likes kids work at all of these stores and they don't take the time and they really don't care so much. are there any good shoe stores on LI? preferrable western suffolk/nassau.
thanks.

I really like the outlet in Deer Park Arches. I can size my kids pretty well but the guy who works there definitely can help. Plus, when you do the survey on the receipt, you get $5 off your next purchase. Yesterday I got my DDs 2 pairs of sneakers for $40.

thanks. i'm heading to outlets on saturday so hopefully the prices are as good. when i went to the regular store the sneakers and sandals were $40-$50 and she only gets 3-6 months out of them.

There is a full priced striderite store in Selden. We went there to get DS sized originally and then bought at the outlets. I did find them a bit pushy to buy though but I think they get commission in the regular priced store. I have found that Eric at the Deer Park outlets is very knowledgeable and helpful. (I have had the opposite experience in Riverhead).

ETS: I just got DS two pairs of clearance sneakers, buy one get one 50% off came out to $15 for both pairs.

Yes we had the guy too and he was good and also a younger girl seems helpful. I had an older woman once there though who was pretty clueless.

You can't beat the deals there! So much cheaper than online or the real store.

I can only get shoes there since ds is wide width....the last pair of sneakers was (gasp) 35+tax - more than I spend on my own..... I didn't realize there is a deer park outlet one.

We took DD to stride rite in the Broadway Mall. It was empty and they took a lot of time with us.

we went to the stride rite in the deer park outlets. Eric was there to help us. They sized her well. We found sneakers for $25, they had sandles for $20 also. i should have had him take a look at her foot when it was in the new sneaker but she was a little cranky and tired.

thanks for the help.
