A fishy situation
I've never had white fish. I see it at bagel stores the world over, but I've never had it.
I've been thinking about it lately, as a substitute for tuna...but, how good of a substitute is it?
does anyone know what kind of fish it is?
and if white fish is NG (or you haven't had it either) have you ever made canned salmon like canned tuna (you know, mayo, onion, celery, etc)?
how does that taste?
TIA

Re: A fishy situation
I Love white fish on a bagel with a tomato. Maybe b/c when I grew up just about every Sunday my family had bagels, lox, cream cheese, cheese, tomatoes, egg salad, tuna, lox, etc. Yes, I'm Jewish! LOL! I think it's a bit more fishy than whitefish, but if you like tuna and other fishes you'll probably like it. Start out with getting a small amount of whitefish one day at the bagel store and see if you like it.

Re: A fishy situation
When I was pregnant I started to make the canned/packaged salmon just like tuna salad. It tasted the same to me. Now if it's on sale I'll buy it over tuna for the Omega 3
I make it with mayo, dijon mustard, onion, celery & sometimes a little dill.

Re: A fishy situation
I prefer canned salmon to canned tuna. I don't like it with Mayo. I make it with a squeeze of lemon, some finely chopped onion and a few drops of olive oil. If I'm feeling it I might add a little dill or sometimes I'll add chopped celery. I almost always have it on toast with a leaf of Romaine an a juicy tomato slice.
