A few questions about my 8 week old

Figured instead of making multiple posts I would put a few questions in one LOL

1) DS has slept in our room in the rnp from the beginning (nerver liked the bassinet). We want to try to get him into the crib before I go back to work in September. The last 2 nights we started putting him in his room in the rnp. He had been sleeping 5 hour stretches before his first middle of the night bottle for about a week. But since puttin of g him in his room been back to getting up every 3 hours, not necessariread oblige ly to eat, but to be comforted also. We ended up bringing the rnp back into our room by 4 both nights since he seemed unsettled. Any advice about this transition?

2) I pumped bm and supplemented with formula since birth. Stopped pumping about 2 weeks ago, now he's getting just Similac sensitive. Since the switch he has been pooping once every 3 days, which is a big change for him, had been going at least once a day. By the second day he is noticibly more unsettled, by the third day totally cranky. He is not what the doctor considers constipated. When My doctor said to use a thermometer or qtip if he seems uncomfortable, haven't had to do that yet, and i read online its not good to do that too often. Anyway to make him more regular?

DD skips a day here and there and sometimes her poop is not as soft as it should be... Dr. suggested mixing prune juice and water daily to keep her more regular.

He said to mix 1 ounce of water and 1 ounce of prune... but 1/2 an ounce of each seems to work fine so that's what I've been doing.

in regards to sleeping - im not sure what is right/wrong and what others think, but this is what i would do....
i would try to transition him right to his crib in his room since hes not loving the rnp in his room. you dont want to get him used to the rnp in his room and then in a few weeks deal with 3 hours wake ups again to get him into the crib.
and as tough as it is...deal with the wake ups and comforting him until he gets used to it and back on track with his 5 hour routine. doing it when you return to work will only be harder!
my experience with DD was not necessarily that HER sleep habits changed when we moved her into her room (we moved her at 6 weeks) but that MY sleep habits changed. she may have fussed when she was next to us but it was quicker to reach my hand over to rub her or give her the pacifier and then we would both be back to sleep in seconds and id forget sometimes that i even did that during the night as opposed to getting up and leaving the bedroom to comfort her.

in terms of the formula - maybe try giving him gas drops? if he is noticeably uncomfortable i would try to help with either gas drops or possibly switching formulas. im not much help on that though bc i ebf.

Did you try a probiotic for your son? DS was having similar issues and we actually changed him to Nutramigen which has a probiotic in it and it helped immensely! But you can also just buy a probiotic separately and add it to whatever formula you're using.
