A few qs re: nativity sets

1 - Can I see yours? Where did you get it?

2 - Where do you place it during the holidays?

Re: A few qs re: nativity sets

Ours was a gift from my mother and grandmother when we were engaged. I think they got it at Fortunoff, but I'm not sure. It's by Fontanini, I've ordered more pieces online, it's a popular brand.

Ours is this 12 piece 5" scale Fontanini set, which is now retired. I like the newer stables better.

It comes with: stable, Gloria Angel, Mary, Joseph, Jesus, manger, 3 kings, a couple of sheep and a shepard.

It's in our bay window, we don't have a Christmas village so I add to it every year. I have a bunch of animals, Michael the Archangel, Mary's donkey, the King's tent, servant's tent, lighted campfires, lighted star of Bethlehem, palm tress, cypress trees, fig tree...

We have a smallish one that is in our front window with our tree in the background. I really would like to get a larger one for next year. We also have a plastic one on our front lawn.

Re: A few qs re: nativity sets

I have two...one is a Lenox set and the other is a Fontani (spelling?) The Fontani one is under the tree and I did not put up our Lenox one this year because DS is crawling and I do not trust him around it Chat Icon

I got my Fontani one from my mom who got it at a Catholic shop. The shop where she got it is now closed though.

I have a beautiful Lenox set my mother bought me. I set it up on the entryway table. Let me see if I can find a pic when I get home.

Cathy - do you know what stores carry Fontanini nativity sets?

You can search for retail locations on their website

There were 40 stores within 10 miles of my house, including Bed Bath and Beyond, so I guess you can use a coupon. Chat Icon

Thank you - I kept getting Fontaninistore.com sites and they didn't look legit.

Didn't realize they were made by Roman. There are actually some Roman sets on QVC.com as well.

Thanks!!

I have a Fontanini, and actually saw our exact set in Big Lots of all places the other day!

Ours is on a table in our living room.

When I lived at home we set it up in the wall unit.

One of my aunts is under the tree.

The other aunt sets it up on her entry table facing the LR.

We don't have one ourselves so I can't help you with sets.

We used to put ours under the tree until DD became mobile. Now I have it set up on our buffet.

Re: A few qs re: nativity sets

So I think I found one I love.

It's a Belleek.

I'm not ordering it - hoping I can find it in store so I can see it first.

Anyone have a Belleek one?

That's pretty.

We have a a fontanini one that was DH's from choidhood--his family added on pieces over the years. We put it under the tree.

We also have one I picked up in CVS, with little cermaic pieces. Wgen I lived alone , in when under the tree. Now it goes on a windowsill (facing in.)

That's pretty!

I'd call around to local Irish stores to see if they have it, I've gotten other Belleek pieces in the one near my house before.

Re: A few qs re: nativity sets

I have this set from Willow Tree. My dad bought me a new piece to it every year, he buys them at Hallmark. I keep it on top of my book shelf in my living room. I would love to keep it under the tree but I think they would end up being dog toys Chat Icon
