A few misc Disney Questions... (UPDATE w/more questions lol)

Is the 60 day mark to book FastPass on your arrival date or the first day you go to a park?

If you go to a park on EMH do the FastPass start at 8am or 9am?

Is there a site that states how many the ride seats hold? Some rides it will be me and DD & DS and I will need to sit next to both of them (cant have DS sit behind us in row etc) - is there a CM at each ride entrance that I can ask?

With the height for the rides - they measure the kids with their shoes on? My kids are borderline at the height limits for some

Anyone know if you can pre-check in with Disney Swan or if they typically let you check-in early? Check in is at 3pm and we have reservations at 4pm for Hoop-de-do - im afraid this is cutting it close (cant make later reservation) - other option is changing res to Aloha show that starts at 5pm

Most sites advise getting to parks about 30min prior to opening - does it take that long to go through security/gates? We want to be there for RD but don't want to sit around waiting 20 minutes (toddler with little patience lol). But if they let you walk around and take pics etc then I can see being there early.

Plan to eat breakfast in the room (only have a fridge no micro) - any good ideas besides cereal?
TIA

*Update with some Epcot questions *

The days the parks open early (at 8am) - can you book FP at that time or do the FP start at 9am? Mainly looking to do this with Frozen ride.

At Epcot with the characters - is the regular character meet the same as the one for Visa cardholders? If not - should we do just one or both?

Is it better to use FP for Nemo ride or Turtle Talk?

thanks for all the replies so far- very helpful!

For height - they do measure with shoes on. You have to make sure they stand up straight (my son was tall enough at 41 inches for many rides but, we had some issues at some because he wanted to duck under the measurement tool).

The 60 day fast pass mark is 60 days from the date you check in. You can reserve Fastpasses for your entire stay at that time.

You can check in at any point - I think the clocks start counting the day at 5 am. However, you may not get to your room until after official check in time. If the room is ready, you will be able to. If there is still someone in the room or it needs to be cleaned, you won't. We often take an early morning flight and leave our bags with the bell hop. We then hit a park or the pool, etc. When we get back to the hotel, we get the room assignment (if they haven't already texted it to us) and tell bell services to bring up our luggage. If they have texted the room number to us, we just go straight to the room and call bell services to bring up your luggage.

The # of passengers in a ride is somewhat "flexible" on some rides. Some are better for 2 adults; some for 2 adults and 1 child can squeeze in and some 1 adult and 2 children. I don't know if CM will be able to tell you, but you should be able to youtube the rides to get an idea. Some like space mountain are single seats one in back of the other. Also any of the roller coasters with harnesses are 2 in a row (rock 'n roller coaster, Everest, etc.

The 60 day mark is 60 days from your check in I believe if you are staying on site.

I'm not sure what EMH is Chat Icon

Since we are a family of 5 I too worried about seating on rides because it would be DH with one child and me with 2 on a ride. I have 5 year old twins and an almost 4 year old. For young kids, most rides that seat 2 they will fit 3 and you can sit with both children on the ride. There is a CM at each ride. We asked at almost every ride.

Yes, kids are measured with shoes on.

I'm not sure about the pre check.

We got there about 20 to 30 minutes before opening and once we got through security we immediately walked around and started taking pics and getting on lines. We got so much done in the morning. I didn't book any fast passes until after 11. Except for meeting Mickey Mouse. I booked that at 9:30am to make sure we did that right away. But we were able to go on 2 rides before that Chat Icon

Some fruit, yogurts, go to the market and buy Thomas' bagels and get some cream cheese to keep in the fridge. Quick and easy. We also bought a 20 pack of Doritos snacks and threw them under the stroller or in our back pack. the kids snacked a lot.

I would definitely aim to get to the parks 30 minutes before opening, OR more. The lines get SUPER long and they now search every crevice in your bag, and have a lot of people going through metal detectors now. It's a slow process these days. We were just there last week.

Thanks - this is what I wanted to know. I don't mind getting there early if it takes that long to get in - just don't want to get there early to sit around and wait for a half hour

The regular meet and greet is separate than the one for Visa cardholders. The Visa one is in Innoventions west I believe and when we went, it was just Mickey and Goofy (the second character varies). The line was long for some reason (I think it was raining) but, it was worth it. It was one place where I was able to wait in the line along while my kids explored (with my husband and parents).

ETA - We fast passed the Finding Nemo ride but were able to walk right on the ride - and right into Turtle Talk as well.

not sure about what time FPs start on the EMH mornings. When you go on 60 days before to book your fast passes, it will tell you what times are available for that ride that day...
Kids get measured with their shoes on. i'm crossing my fingers bc DS should just make the 44 inches for a couple things! LOL
each ride is different with how many fit. i know last year on Thunder Mountain, DS was 4... and we got me, DH and DS all in one car... same with splash mountain. But some have different harnesses or whatever so you can only do 2 people..
The meet and greet for Disney Visa members is different than the "Character Spot" one.
I would maybe FP the Crush one... but either crush or nemo should be pretty much walk-on... las year we FP crush, but didn't need to.

Another perk to getting there early (although probably have to get there at least an hour early), is that you could be selected to open the park, and ride on the train with the characters. I know someone on the board was selected during their trip after chatting it up with a cast member.

A few misc Disney Questions... (UPDATE w/more questions lol)

Fast pass is not available for the EMH. Time selections start at official park opening. Not all rides are available during EMH. World Showcase doesn't officially open until 11:00am. Due to demand, the Frozen ride opens at 9:00am. Depending on what time your plane lands, 4PM might be too early to make it over to Wilderness Lodge for Hoop de Doo. There is no resort to resort transportation, so unless you have a car, you will need to travel from Swan to MK or Disney Springs and then catch a bus to Wilderness. Disney always says to allow 1 hour for travel.

As for early arrival, I would definitely get to MK at least 45 minutes before rope drop. Besides the extra security, there is the welcome show which starts 15 minutes before park opening.

If your kids are borderline for a ride, they might not make it on. DD was borderline (1/4 of an inch, if that) and they wouldn't let her ride something at Disney Quest. Make sure you have them measured ASAP at the ride so you don't waste time standing on line.

I haven't seen big lines for Nemo so I don't know that I would use a FP for that. The queue is also air conditioned and very well themed - you just have to look. Turtle Talk with Crush starts every 15-20 minutes or so, so that is the wait time. There is an interactive wait area which includes fish tanks the kids can look at.
