9/11 Rememberances
Just thought I would start a thread, for us all to post rememberances, encouragement, and hugs...
We all know where we were that dreaded day, and everyone had a different story...
I am so happy you are all here today..and I am so sorry for the lost loved ones

Re: 9/11 Rememberances
My Dad's boss had just transferred into Rescue 2 a few days before 9-11. He really wanted to make the move. His wife was pregnant with their first child and they had just bought a brand new house.
He was so excited. He was such a nice man. I spoke to him a few days before it happened.
I wonder how his wife is doing... and his son is almost 4 years old now, that is just mind boggling to me.

Re: 9/11 Rememberances
I didn't know anyone personally who was lost, but my heart goes out to all of their families. I am a teacher and school was just starting when this all happened. We didn't hear about it until they announced a lock down and we heard through the grape vine. We were all scared and trying to keep the kids from knowing anything was going on. Several kids in my building lost a loved one that day. Their innocent lives were forever changed that day. I will forever remember every seccond of that day.
PS- DH and I were just planning our wedding at that time and it felt so wierd to go on with our lives (looking at halls) a few days after while the recovery was going on and people were in morning! I felt like life should just stop and DH encouraged me to keep looking towards our futures together. He really helped me get through this!

Re: 9/11 Rememberances
That morning, my Dad was cursing his schedule -
the appointment schedule had him in the trade center at 7:30am, in QUEENS at 9am, and back at the WTC at 10:15am.
Thank GOD someone was on his shoulder that day, telling him to shut up and just follow his schedule. It kept him safe.
eta: Thanks for starting this post, Holly. I personally felt SO vulnerable that day. It was my first week alone, away at college. I hadn't made many friends yet, and I felt so scared, so alone, and so anxious. I didn't sleep for soooo long after that day. It just HURT to be so vulnerable.

My family lost a cousin on that day. He worked for Cantor Fitzgerald. He was supposed to get married that November 2001 to his high school sweetheart...but that was never to be
I pray for his parents

Re: 9/11 Rememberances
I woke up early hoping to watch the memorials on tv but I dont get any NY stations. I guess they are being broadcasted locally.
My family lost a cousin. He was PA. He was outside the building helping with evacuations (he knew the building inside and out), and when someone said "lets run" he ran back into the building to save others.
I was suppose to be in the WFC building. I would have been walking through the buildings in the morning, but I was running late and saw everything from the M train.
It's still very fresh in my head. I know exactly what I was wearing, who I called, where I walked, and what I did. I cant look at a picture of the NY skyline without crying.

exactly how I feel. I threw away the clothe I wore that day, I couldn't wait to take a shower, although I can't even stand straight, my feet were bleeding from walking all the way to Brooklyn on the bridge, there were hundreds of us, everybody watched out for each other.. every little details is still so vivid and I can never shake it off. I thought I can watch the remembrance on TV, within seconds I started bawling... it's been 4 years, somehow I still wish in my head this is just a nightmare and I would wake up anytime and all those people would still be alive.

Re: 9/11 Rememberances
A girl I grew up with lost her dad. They never found him They renamed the street they live on after him. I cry every time I drive by. DH and my Best Friends train was late late that day. He was walking toward WFC where he worked and just saw all the smoke and people running. He thought they were filming a movie. He had no idea what just happened he just ran with everyone else and managed to catch the last train back to LI. Once on the train he was talking to everyone and realized it was "real". He called us @ the apt. and left a long message and called back to continue the message..Just to hear his voice made me cry! My mom called me @ work and I asked her to call so many people who I knew were in the area that day. Thank God they were all OK. My prayers are with all families everyday!!

Re: 9/11 Rememberances
My friend's father was never found....my friend is never the same....9/11 is hard....I experienced it full force-It was my 2nd week at school-we were "forgotten" about cuz we were in the basement-so we were let out at 9:45......we had no tv, no radio, so we had no idea what was going on...I ran to find my FH-who was 8 blocks away, and his school told me he already left...as i ran back to my school, the 2nd building fell-I had to stop in the middle of the street and just watch. When I passed my school, one of the teachers was still outside-she told me my FH had passed and went to my fathers office-who was 2 blocks away. When I went to my fathers office, I coldnt find them-I started to cry hysterically then-FINALLY I saw them...and I fell on the floor-I couldn't take it. We had to walk all the way home-but before that, we stopped at my fathers coworkers house bc we couldnt walk over the bridge-it was closed. It was THEN, when we were watchin tv, that I realized what had TRULY happened....and I had never been so scared b4 in my life....
