8-10m Old Feeding Question - Esp. Dr. Rubin Babies
at our 8m appt Dr. Rubin said that by 10m Em should be down to 2 bottles (she is currently at 4 with 2 meals). Does that sound accurate? Do I eliminate the bottles or do I put formula in her sippy? (She drinks varied amounts of water from her sippy now).
i wasn't feeding solids for lunch, so on sunday i eliminated that bottle and added a meal instead. the first day she was fine. the second and third day i think she thought that the second "meal" was dinner, so when it came time for her actual dinner she ended up being cranky and unable to sit in her high chair and eat, until i eventually just gave her a bottle instead. she skipped the meal completely two days in a row (replaced with a bottle, so she was still only eating 2 solid meals a day).
so today i was thinking of skipping her normal second and third bottles and just going straight to 3 meals in a row with a bottle before bed. is it too soon for that?? it happens to work out because we slept a little late today but im not sure it would work out other days...

I think 2 bottles is to litte. Mine were still on 4 at that stage. I believe under 1 there main nutrition should be from formula or bm and you are just introducing the foods.
Maybe for lunch only give her fruits and for dinner stick to a veggie and something else.

Re: 8-10m Old Feeding Question - Esp. Dr. Rubin Babies
DD (11 months tomorrow) has been eating 3 meals since about 7 months. It just naturally happened that she ate more and drank formula less. Now she's pretty much transitioned fully, with 3 meals and a snack in the afternoon (fage yogurt with fresh fruit). She takes about 10-12 oz the whole day. Try increasing her food intake and then giving her a bottle. I think naturally she would eat more and take less bottle since she'll be full?

The recommendation is between 16-21oz/day. THe idea is that you want them to eat more food and less formula

Re: 8-10m Old Feeding Question - Esp. Dr. Rubin Babies
DS is 9.5 months and has been on 3 meals a day for 2 months now but I always offer 4 bottles a day, one in the morning, one at bedtime and 2 smaller ones before his naps. The past 2 weeks he has been refusing the bottles during naps so I introduced a snack in between meals (usually yogurt, fruit or puffs)

That can't be right--before one year foods are just practice and are not supposed to replace BM/formula.
Maybe call her and verify??

I wouldn't worry about the bottles. My ped always said 16-22 oz of formula was what dd should take in. She wanted me to do no more than 3 bottles a day but I just stuck with 4 a day because my dd would never drink more than 5 oz at a time. I say do what works for your dd!
