Price of a new oil fired hot water heater?
We've been having some problems with our hot water tank leaking so it seems we need a new one   Anyone have an idea of how much that's going to cost? Right now we have a 30 gal. glass lined tank.
Also, does anyone know if a glass lined or steel tank is better?

We need a new one for the house we are moving into & I believe my inspector said it would be under $500 probably around 3ish for the top of the line. Sorry I do't know the difference b/w glass or steel lined.

ours is something like 12 years old (can go any day), and we have stashed away 1K to replace when it dies b/c that is what the inspector estimated it would cost to replace with our setup. we have yet to price any, so i don't know if we actually will have to pay that much.

A tank will cost you less than $500. They do have these newer systems that are very tiny and can be mounted on a wall to save tons of space. They are probably double in cost. Figure between $300-$1000, depending on what you opt for.
