 When do puppies stop growing
And reach their full size? Molly is about 7 pounds now and is 5 months....how big will she get?
The bigger the better I think bc I am always so scared that people will step on her!

Re: When do puppies stop growing
I've always had larger dogs and the vet always told me that they will be full grown by 2 years. I'm not sure it that's the same with smaller dogs.

My vet said the same thing about Bama (he's medium-sized).

Re: When do puppies stop growing
Annie seemed to stop at about 1 year. Then again we're not sure how old she was to begin with since she was a pound pup. The vet said she looked about 8 months old when we got her.

Re: When do puppies stop growing
It depends on the breed of dog. The Pug stopped growing at about 2 years, but the Shiba Inu looks like he is done growing & he is 16 months. Pyxie is still growing, but she just got fixed 2 months ago, so I think the new weight gain is from that. She is just over 1 year.

Re: When do puppies stop growing
Hey Jes, how old was Tink when she stopped growing? Bruno is only 9 weeks & her is 2.5 lbs. The vet estimates he will be about 5 - 6 lbs, but I think he might be off....

well i remember tink was like 4 lbs at 6 months.... and i prayed shed stay that size. i'd say by 8 months she was pretty much where she is now. they can grow til 1 year, but not very much at all.
i have to meet Sir Bruno soon!

  is molly a shih tzu?
pebbles is 1 year and 3 months now and she's 8 pounds, although she looks heavier with all her hair. she's an imperial pup.

  Yes - she's a maltius/shihtzu. I would like her to get to 10 lbs---i guess we'll see.
