7 month old sleep routine?
What do you do at night for a routine?
Does your child go down without crying or how long do they cry for if put down awake

Re: 7 month old sleep routine?
DD will be 6 months tomorrow and up until 2 weeks ago (we had to give up the swaddle) We would go upstairs @ 7:30 ish, dim the light, put on the sound machine, change her diaper, get her dressed in pajamas, feed her her bottle and put her down sleepy but not passed out. She would put herself to sleep without crying. Every other night the routine starts with a bath. She would usually sleep until 7:30-8 am
Now since turning her self over in her sleep and us having to get rid of her swaddle and her potentially teething bedtime is a night mare

Re: 7 month old sleep routine?
thanks you
She's been sttn since 1 month old so thats not the issue. The issue is thats she screams bloody murder when I put her down. She is very sleepy but for some reason can't settle down anymore. We did cio at 4 months and had success for a while but it's not working anymore.
Not sure if it's ok to let her cry like that. She never does for more than 1/2 hour and usually never that long

personally if she is not crying for even a half an hour, I would let her cry and then hope after a few days she will go back to being able to soothe herself back to sleep but that is my opinion. I have let DD cry in the crib when I know she is not hungry, has a clean diaper and is just being fussy. I dont want bad habits to form especially with the sleep routine.

Re: 7 month old sleep routine?
i know it's more my husband saying ther's something wrong for her to be screaming like that. So then this lead to no bed time routine (which I do and he sayd I don't have a consistent one) it's been a fight so I want to stat a more consistent routine so I can tell him it doesn't matter she just cries before bed

Re: 7 month old sleep routine?
do you use a sound machine or play music. I know that really helps my DD. The mobile was too short for us - didnt play music long enough. We use a sound machine but mainly because we have a small dog that barks all the time but we use to have a 12 song CD player and she really liked that. It helped trigger it was time to go to bed for her.

Re: 7 month old sleep routine?
DD is 8 months and we sort of do a routine depending on the night. Tonight, for example, we gave her a bath, then I nursed her in the gilder and then rocked her with her binky in. She fell asleep on me then I put her in her crib...she looked up at me then rolled over. She was asleep by 6:30.
When we don't give her a bath we change her pj's around 5, let her hang out downstairs with use and play until around 6, then just bring her up, turn off the lights, rock her a bit and put her down. She goes to bed at pretty much the same time every night. So, I am not sure if it is a routine really....
ETA: If she does cry when we put her down we soothe her until she stops, but we will not go in there again after she is asleep, even if she cries again. There is no need, she just wants our company!

Re: 7 month old sleep routine?
we have te mobile projector on. It actually plays for a long time and I have a remote if it does goes off. If she wakes I never go in unless it's a horrible cry which has not hapened in months. She woke a few times last night but went back down so I know she can do it.
And naps have not been a problem/ I just don't get why she screams at night

Re: 7 month old sleep routine?
I do his routine all in his bedroom. It's simple, but completely solid. We go up to his room, I massage him with lotion, put on his overnight diaper, put on his pjs, read him two books, then make him shut off the light (it's stupid, but I tell him to say night, night to the light and then I make him shut it off with his hand ), then I give him a bottle while I rock him and sing to him, put him in his crib and then we're done. He doesn't cry at bedtime, however, he does wake a lot in the evenings, hence my CIO post

thank you. We will try it out tonight, a more solid routine, and see what happens. I just read your post and it sounds like you did a great job. And each night it will get shorter and shorter.
I think a big problem with my dd is that she can sit up now so she is crying and nodding off while sitting up. I find her sleeping sitting up all the time. She trying to pull her self up and wants to be picked up. If I lay her down she automatically sits up.
Any other suggestions out there?

Re: 7 month old sleep routine?
Well, my daughter just turned 6 months but I'll answer. She's still on a later schedule than we'd like, though it's gotten better through the last month or two. Presently, she naps around 6:30 or 7:30pm for 1/2 hour, and then is ready for bed by 9:30pm...we change her into pajamas, turn off the living room lights, and she gets a bottle. Many time she falls asleep on the bottle and just transfers to crib, other times she finishes bottle, is still awake but groggy, we can get some burps out, then she'll fall asleep on our shoulder within a few minutes.
Neither of my kids have ever fallen asleep on their own as babies....it just doesn't happen. But she is definitely learning to self-soothe herself back to sleep if she rouses in the middle of the night.
