7 month old doesn't want to sit ...

My 7 month old DD loooves to be on her belly, roll around, be on her back, she even loves to stand (with support, of course). But, she basically HATES to sit! And because of that, she doesn't sit very well. She can sit tripod style, but falls over easily, and when she sits more erect, it's only for a VERY short time and then she literally just falls back. When I try to practice with her, half the time she won't even go into sitting position - she totally resists it. She's up on all fours rocking back and forth, so I think crawling is on the horizon ... but shouldn't she be able to sit by now?!

My DD is 7 mos and won't sit either. She can hold it for a few seconds and then topples right or left or just throws herself straight back! I keep practicing with her but no dice. I think she just needs more time. She likes to lay on her playmat or go in her jumperoo. So I don't have advice but I am just going to keep at it!

Before DD could sit I put her in the boppy so if she fell back or to the side she was fine. She would sit but still need something to sort of support her. If you don't have a boppy use pillows around your LO.

My one dd is better than the other. One refuses but can tripod while the other can pull herself straight if she starts going backward. The ped said that if they aren't sitting by 7.5. - 8 mo to call EI but that they are fine now snd keep practicing. I sit them on the changing table snd I think the Bowing of it helps them. I practice on their playmat too. Whenever I can. I use the boppy when I'm on the couch with them.

My son was born with a low tone trunk (no muscle) he didnt' sit on his own (pulling himself up) until 1 day before his 1st birthday. Do you think your child has this? If you pull him/her up by hands does his head lag? have you asked Dr?

let her be, shes excercising her muscles doing what shes doing on the floor, shell get to sitting when she needs to ;)

I use the boppy, pillows, etc. It's that she doesn't WANT to sit. She'll slink back so she doesn't have to. Or keep her legs stiff so she stands instead of sits.

My dd has been sitting on her own like a week before she turned 6mos old. Within days she had it mastered. However she hate hate hates being on her belly and cannot roll from belly to back and is not really showing any signs of crawling. She is 8 mos now. Sometimes around this age I think they can't master it all and will do it all in good time. Checking with the dr can never hurt either.

DD loves to sit but hates to stand with support.

She's been good with sitting for a long time now. I still prop her with a boppy if she will be on the floor for awhile. And I give her toys to shake or the little piano toy.

dd is now 7 months, and starts to topple a little when we sit her up... tripod works well, and I think the bumbo helps but we dont use it much.
