Early arrival: my baby came 5 weeks early
DH and I are so thrilled to announce that our baby is here!
Melia Manuella arrived at 35 weeks.
There were no indications in my pregnancy that I would go into preterm labor, but I did.
It started late Monday night and we went to the hospital and they were able to stop the contractions w/ medication. I was 3 cm dialated and 80% effaced.
We were discharged and went home at 7am, and when we got home, the contractions started again, so we went to my ob's office. There was no change, so they gave me an oral med to try to stop the contractions. It worked for a little while, but then they got more frequent and more intense, so back to the hospital- during the ice storm- we went. I was 6 cm dialated and 100 effaced, and in full labor, so they admittted me.
St Peter's University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ was absolutely amazing! the staff, the private rooms, just amazing and i just love my ob practice!!!!
get the epidural! that was fabulous!!!
DH was the best! he didn't leave my side.
They didn't want me to push until she descended, so I only had to push for an hour. I didn't tear too bad, but i have some stitches.
Baby was 5lbs 8oz at birth and 5lbs 1oz when we left friday afternoon. She's 18.5" long. She was born at 1:24pm on 2/2. We didn't have to go to the NICU- just the regular nursery.
our ped is watching her closely b/c she was born early and is so tiny and a little jaundiced, but nothing to be too worried about.
She can't really latch yet, so i'm pumping and mixing that w/ formula untl my milk fully comes in. she has to use a premie nipple. Image Attachment(s):

everything was so wonderful! even the food was great!

I am so thrilled for you. Melia is gorgeous and I think it is absolutely amazing that you were all able to go home together and no NICU. You did good!!!!

lol. I love this.
Sooo glad your little girl is healthy & beautiful. She certainly made an early appearance- must've been too anxious to meet her momma & daddy
