Re: Childbrith Classes
I didn't take any... we didn't have the time or the money. I bought the dvd "laugh and learn about childbirth" and it was awesome ... so glad we didn't do a class.

My doctor's office offers a 5 week class for 2 hours on Tuesday nights so we signed up for that one.

Re: Childbrith Classes
Honestly we took one at Good Sam Hospital and it was such a waste of time & $$ We were commuting from work in the city, it was such a pita to get there and half the time the lady either didn't show up/cancelled the class, or really wasted our time going on tangents. Watch a DVD instead I wish I did, spend the $$ on baby stuff

Re: Childbrith Classes
I'm going to the one at my hospital. But out here (I'm living Colorado right now) it's only $25 for the entire 5 week program. So far I've enjoyed it. They've taught us a lot about the birthing process in general (including the stages and WHEN to call your doctor), they've also taught breathing techniques as well as positions that help ease pain or just give relaxation. It's only been 2 weeks, but I see on the schedule for next week we're learning about pain mangagement (epidurals, ect). I'm glad I've taken it because I feel like it's taught me a lot already. I'm not sure how the ones out there are though.

Re: Childbrith Classes
I took a Bradley Method class (natural childbirth) with Celeste Rachell, and it was awesome. Not sure where you live, but her class is a six-week series out of her house in Roslyn.

Re: Childbrith Classes
DH has a crazy schedule cause he owns his own business and he would never be able to make any of the hopital classes. My doc suggested a private class at our house given by a real labor and delivery nurse. Her name is Barbara Miller. We liked that she could work around our schedule. The class was one day so DH didn't have to leave work early. And we were in the comfort of our own home.
Barbara was fantastic. She knows her stuff cause she has seen it all. She answered all our questions and was very helpful in giving us packing advice, when to call the doc advice, and overall just making us more calm about the whole process.
If you want her info let me know.

Stonybrook offers free prenatal classes and there is also a free breastfeeding class - i dont think you have to be delivering there. They never asked when i signed up.
