I cannot believe the day came for me to write the birth story of my son! It was the most magical experience.
Evangelos Nikolaos (aka Angelo) was born at 8:53 p.m. on January 3, 2011.
It was my last day off of work before I returned from my 2 week vacation and at 1 a.m. I started to feel contractions that were about 30 minutes apart. Between 4 a.m. and 7 a.m. the contractions became 10 minutes apart. DH went to work and I remained home in labor. I lost my mucus plug around noon and when I called the doctor they told me to call them when my contractions were 5 minutes apart for one hour. They became 5 minutes apart at 2 p.m. and at 3 I called the doctor and they told me to take my time and go to the hospital so they can examine me. My MIL came from South Jersey to keep me company and we waited for my DH to get home from work.
We got to Winthrop around 5:30 ish and the registration room was packed with a couple in front of me who looked like they were just pre-registering. I finally got to triage around 6ish and when the PA examined me I was 7 cm dilated!!!!!!! I requested an epidural immmediately!!! LOL. My doctor did not believe I was 7 cm but when he got to the hospital he examined me and I sure was! The pain was not terrible...it just felt like bad period cramps. They did the epidural and there was no pain at all after that. At one point I felt like the baby was coming out of my butt so the doctor had me start pushing! My DH held one leg while the doctor held the other. 20-30 minutes later the baby came out with 9,9 Apgars. He is so perfect and we are so thankful we had such a great labor and delivery.
The worst part was the afterbirth...but that is a different story!

that's an awesome birth story. I'm glad it went so well - I think every pregnant woman hopes for that. I know I do. Congrats!!! He's ADORABLE!!!
