One of the scariest moments of my life...
I went for a run tonight after the girls went to sleep, around 7:30pm.
As I was running up one of the streets I passed a man that was walking towards me, who looked shady, walking by himself, on a cold, dark night.
I went to the end of the block and then turned around to come back the other way and this time, he turned direction and was walking towards me.
As I ran past him, he approached me, but I ignored him, yelled out loudly "Sorry" and kept running. But, a few seconds later, I noticed his shadow running up from behind me.
Before I could do anything, he grabbed my arm, and started pulling me towards him. I turned, faced him, pulled my arm back and started screaming at the top of my lungs. We struggled for a second or two, but once he realized my screams were getting louder, he got scared, and ran away.
What is most scary is that, I kept running away from his direction, screaming as loudly as I could, so much so that I'm seriously hoarse right now, "HELP ME, HELP ME, HELP ME" and not a soul came out of their house. I was TERRIFIED, thinking he would come back after me when he realized no one was coming out.
Thankfully, at the end of the block there was a woman and her young son, walking their dog. I ran up to them, and they called the cops and waited with me until an officer arrived.
6 cop cars came, 2 detectives, and 2 dogs, but unfortunately they never found him
What's worse is I can't say this is the scariest experience of my life - when I was 18, home alone, two men in masks broke into my house and chased me as I ran out and up the block to a neighbor's house.
Needless to say, I will never be running outside again...

OMG!!!!! Definitely time for a treadmill. If you do run outside again, keep your keys with a key ring in your hand. I put my finger through the ring and have my keys 'stab' ready. I also have a hand held phone holder. Don't run alone with music and leave a map and what you're wearing with someone at home.
You are lucky!

God that's scary, I'm glad you're okay.
Sadly, no one comes to the aid of a 'help me' - you have to yell 'fire'.

Re: One of the scariest moments of my life...
oh that's just awful - i'm SO sorry that happened to you! how scary - i'm just shaking my head, i just can't believe that, it's so terrifying. i'm really glad you are OK but so upset that this lunatic is out there. you did the best you could though, there was nothing more you could have done except get away as fast as you could. i can't believe no one came out!!! i'll never forget when i saw an oprah show once their expert said to yell FIRE instead of HELP. that studies show people don't respond to help! WHAT THE HECK?? WHY NOT?? I thought to myself, I don't care if someone was yelling mustard - if I heard someone in distress I would go to help them. But I'll never forget that.
I'm sorry again you had to endure that. Maybe, after a day or two, they will find him or get more of a lead/tips that will let them find him.

OMG that's horrible. I'm so glad you're okay though. I never run at night alone, I'd be too afraid and this just confirmed my fears.
