FRIDAY


Southampton: 19th annual American Picnic to benefit the Southampton Fresh Air Home, a residential summer camp for physically handicapped children. Includes picnic buffet, face painting, carnival games and more, 7-10 p.m. Fireworks over Shinnecock Bay. Rain date, Saturday. Tickets, $250, $100 for "juniors" ages 20-30, $75 for 19 and younger; benefactor tickets, $20,000-$1,000. Call 631-283-5847.

Setauket: Port Jefferson Lions Club Festival, today-Sunday at Percy Raynor Park, Route 347; carnival rides, food, Las Vegas-style games, live music, racing pigs. Fireworks tonight and Sunday at dusk. Admission $3, pay-one-price rides available. 631-499-6824.


SATURDAY


East Meadow: "Celebrate America," sponsored by Commerce Bank at Eisenhower Park; includes musical program "Classical Mystery Tour: A Tribute to the Beatles." Gates open at 6 p.m., fireworks about 9:30. Pick up free tickets at any Commerce Bank branch before the show, and bring chairs or blankets and a radio to listen to a simulcast on WALK/97.5 FM or Q104/104.3 FM. 516-572-0200 or 516-572-0223.

Point Lookout: Annual Independence Day Celebration, Town of Hempstead, Point Lookout Beach, 1300 Lido Blvd.; includes salute to U.S. veterans, a concert featuring singer Gloria Gaynor, display of classic and vintage cars, and military vehicles and equipment from 2nd Marines, 25th Battalion in Garden City. Fireworks after the concert, simulcast on KJOY/98.3 FM. Bring chairs, blankets and a picnic dinner. Concert begins at 7:30 p.m. Free, 516-431-3900, 516-292-9000, ext. 382. Rain date is Sunday.

East Northport: 15th Annual St. Anthony's Family Feast & Festival, today-Sunday at Trinity Regional School, 1025 Fifth Ave.; live entertainment, carnival rides, Las Vegas-style games, food and more; fireworks Saturday at dusk. Adults $9, $4 seniors, children younger than 2 free. 631-262-1891.

Riverhead: Riverhead Raceway Fireworks Spectacular. Events include a Police Car Demolition Derby and a One-on-One Spectator Drag Competition, in which anyone with a helmet, a working seatbelt and a "street-legal" car can race. Time trials for NASCAR Modifieds at 4:30 p.m., main event racing at 6. Rain date is Sunday. Admission: $25, $5 for ages 6-12, 5 and younger admitted free. 631-842-RACE or www.riverheadraceway.com

Amityville: 12th Annual Family Celebration, Amityville railroad station; begins at 5 p.m. with kiddie rides, a petting zoo and food; fireworks around 9 p.m., free admission. 631-264-6000

East Hampton: Whether she's crooning pop, shouting soul or giving gospel her all, Aretha Franklin is queen of all she surveys. The Queen of Soul appears at a benefit for the Ross School's scholarship fund on Monday. The fundraiser begins at 6 p.m. with a reception, dinner is served at 7:30, and the concert commences at 9 at the Ross School, 18 Goodfriend Dr., East Hampton. Party boats offer July Fourth cruises to watch the Jones Beach Fireworks while enjoying dinner, cocktails and music supplied by a DJ. Among them, Nautical Cruise Lines, out of Freeport, 516-623-5712 or www.nauticalcruise lines.com. Also check out www.cap treefleet.com or 631-669-6464 for boats out of Captree State Park, including the Captain Gillen II, Captain Gregory, Captain Rod, Jib VI, Captain Eddie B. Riverhead: Fireworks Show and Street Fair presented by the Wildlife Rescue Center of the Hamptons, along with East End Radio stations WEHM, WBAZ and The Beat, at Peconic Park; live music, food and craft vendors, starts at 5 p.m.; fireworks at dusk. 631-728-WILD.
