6 wk app - what to expect
What do they do at this appointment? Am I supposed to drink a lot of water or is that later?

LOADS of blood will be taken (i think they took 8 vials from me)....
it MAY be a long appointment (mine was an hour, 30)...where your doc will cover family history, a pregnancy schedule, answer any questions you have (so make a list and bring it with you - so you don't forget anything)...
Sono - but you don't need to drink water - the sono will be internal (they need to date the pregnancy)...
i think that was it!

unfortunately not much interesting happens. i didn't even meet a doctor at my 6wk appointment. a nurse practioner asked me a million questions about my medical history and took tons of my blood. they weighed me and took my blood pressure too.
i had some bleeding so they also did an ultrasound but i don't think they usually do an ultrasound that early.

I just had my 7w,1day appointment
no blood was taken, it was just a sono and a quick discussion with the doctor
I go back at 11w,1day and I get a pap then, blood work, etc

Lots of question/answer time, blood work (lots), and possibly a sono, depending on your doctor. I had some bleeding so they did an early sono to make sure all was ok!

I didn't go that early - I will be 7w5d when we go in for our first visit! (You're going in 4 days after me!  )

I went at 5w5d and they drew a lot of blood, did an internal sonogram  and had a discussion for about 20 min to answer any q's I had. Good Luck!!
