6 month olds - crying when people enter room?
over the past week - 2 weeks, DS (who was a VERY happy, social, smiley baby) starts screaming when people enter the room! if people come near him or talk to him or smile at him, he screams. DH and I are really the only ones who can calm him.
is it seperation anxiety? even if we are with him?
he is the same way at daycare. if a new teacher says hi to him, he cries! he is fine with his teacher and assistant and eventually he does warm up but it takes a while.
even his nana and grandma, he screams

my friend at work is having this problem with his 11 month old!!!!!
he chalks it up to his wife being a sahm and not really getting out and socializing him much. he's only played with Em a few times and has gone 'out' to places maybe 20 times max....
i wonder if it's something else though....

yea, see thats the part i dont get. he has been in daycare and around people since 14 weeks, full time! he always smiled at everyone, laughed at everyone!
his nana and grandma watched him for 5 weeks over the summer so he *should* recognize them, and he still sees them weekly! this is since 6 months

Re: 6 month olds - crying when people enter room?
My DS (almost 6 months) freaked out the other day when his Grandpa (my Dad) picked him up the other day I felt soo bad!!! He usually lights up around him and is so happy.
DS is definitely way more cautious and uneasy around new faces now too. He hides in my shoulder. I am chalking it up to a phase and I hope it passes soon!

Omg! I am sooo happy to hear this. My dd is doing the same thing! We live in VA but visit often. My mom spent almost the whole summer w/ us. I was getting worried. She screamed when my dad looked at her. It took her a day to warm up and she was fine. It is so upsetting though. I think it is just a phase. I am a sahm but we are out all the time around a ton of ppl. I found having ppl ignore dd at first helps. Just have them in the room then have them talk to you. My dd needed time to feel it out i guys.

yeah, separation anxiety...they are becoming more socially aware. my DD1 was the worst and it was only the beginning at 6 months. other friends had kids that never had this problem.
