6-12 months sizes (and 12-18, etc.)
Do these clothes generally fit kids for close to 6 months?
DD is 4.5 months and pretty on target with clothes right now, Carter's 6 months onesies and pants are still pretty big on her. I have a bunch of items in 6-12 (mostly GAP, some Old Navy, some Nordstrom stuff) stockpiled in her closet and I'm trying to figure out what she will actually need.
Thanks!!

I think it varies so much from child to child. DD was born 6.13. She's 7 months now and 18.2 lbs. She fits comfortably into some 6-9 mo and 9 mo is good BUT I know she won't be in them much longer. I am only buying her 12 mo now and while they're a little roomy, she can definitely wear them.

It may vary..but for MY kids...
The size that is listed FIRST was when I started to wear it and the last size listed was when I finished wearing it
Ex: 3-6 months..they started wearing at 3 months and finished at 6 months!
Carters they started to wear it at the size/age listed..
Ex: started wearing 9 mo clothes when they turned 9 mo old!
HTH! =)

Re: 6-12 months sizes (and 12-18, etc.)
My kids never went mos by sizes. We were always ahead. My daughter finshed 6-12 mo (gap/ON type sizing) at the end of her 6 mos (Squezed her in some thru some of her 7mo being we hit some hot sept days and didn't want to buy new summer stuff). She wore it 4-6mos.
She is 8 mos now and wearing 12-18mos and even some 18-24mos stuff (length is often long though). Carters/CP stuff she is in 12 mos and some shirts are getting tight on her as she has a belly.
My boys were very similar. I will say all 3 of my kids were 90% babies for height and weight so big babies.

IMO Gap/Old Navy runs small so I'd give them a try now.

Re: 6-12 months sizes (and 12-18, etc.)
in the beginning, they grow so quickly and go through sizes just as quickly. as they approach a year, it slows down.
DS is now 18 months and can still wears 18-24 months in GAP. GAP runs big. Carters, he is in 24 months.
For the most part, he was always 1 size ahead. He has been wearing 18 months (18 months, 18-24 months) for at least 6 months now. We are moving into 24 month and by the new year he can likely wear 2T.
