Question for the married ladies (re: top of wedding cake)
My sister is going to be celerating her 1st year anniversary soon, she was wondering about the top of her wedding cake...it's been frozen since the day after the wedding.... how long did you ladies defrost it so that you could eat it on your anniversary?

We defrosted it the night before. BUT...We both took one bite and spit it out. It was gross! But, hey, we tried!

Re: Question for the married ladies (re: top of wedding cake)
I think my dad took it out of his freezer and put it into the fridge about 2 or 3 days before. Ours was actually delicious - I was so surprised!

Re: Question for the married ladies (re: top of wedding cake)
We ate ours on our 1 month - took it out of the freezer the day before. It was "OK".
I wound up going to the bakery who made our wedding cake and had them make me a topper for our 1 year aniversary. It came out fantastic (just as good as that night)!!

We ate ours on our 1 month (we have only been married 1 month). We took it out 2 days before. Ours tasted great. The taste really held well.

Re: Question for the married ladies (re: top of wedding cake)
we ate ours at the 1 month mark we didn't want to take a chance of it being gross after a year and it going to waste.
I took it out of the freezer the night before, it was yummy 24 hrs later

We took it out 3 days before and left it in the fridge until we had it for dessert. It was perfect!

Our is next month, I guess the secret is to put it in the fridge for a couple of days . I hope that works!

Re: Question for the married ladies (re: top of wedding cake)
We never froze the top of our cake. We actually ate it when we got back from our honeymoon! We had heard from so many people how nasty the frozen cake was, so why waste it? Our bakery actually gave us a coupon to use for our 1 year anniversary to get a new 'cake top' made.

Re: Question for the married ladies (re: top of wedding cake)
Ours was excellent. We took it out the morning of, ate if for dessert. I did have a back-up because I couldn't imagine year old cake tasting very good.

Re: Question for the married ladies (re: top of wedding cake)
We only saved a piece, no room for the whole top. I defrosted it in the fridge two days before, and ours too was pretty gross.

For those that ate it, how did you store it for the year?

Re: Question for the married ladies (re: top of wedding cake)
Ours was so good. We put it in the fridge 2 days before. The day after our anniversary was DH's b-day, he actually saved what we didn't eat and had my family and his family try it because we were shocked at how good it tasted.
Our hall packaged it up for us, it was wrapped in plastic twice and then in a "keepsake box" thing that they put it in.

We left ours in my inlaws freezer and it broke. The cake defrosted so we just threw it out.
