did you and your DH have to be re-baptised as a lutheran? do the children make all the regular sacraments like communion, confirmation etc etc?

I was raised Catholic and baptised Landon in the Methodist Church. My DH's family belongs to the church. I didn't have to convert or do anything! The "godparents" didn't have to be Methodist either.

I was raised Catholic, went through all the sacraments, my husband didn't have a religion growing up, and we have decided to raise our son and future children another form of Christianity, we think Episcopalian.
I just need to find a church after we move to a bigger apt.

we are in kind of the same boat! DH and i were both raised catholic, but over the years, my view on the catholic church has really gone downhill... and after getting married in the catholic church, it REALLY opened my mind to them and i just dont agree with a lot of things they preach
i still believe in God and many other things... and i want my LO to have the belief of God, and easter and christmas etc etc.... which is why i thought Luteran was a good choice

I could've written your post myself almost exactly!!!! My view has completely changed. My family used to attend church every Sunday, and now my parents dont attend at all, since our view on the Catholic Church has also changed. I do want my child to have a religion, and I think Lutheran, Protestant and Episcopalian are all great choices... we just need to figure out which one.

DH and I were both raised Catholic. We switched to a Lutheran church back in 2006. We did not have to be re-baptized or anything like that. And yes, the children do make all their sacraments. I believe it's done in a different time frame (ages) than with Catholicism. I'm not certain though.

yes communion was 5th grade. confirmation was 8th grade (baptism is whenever the parents choose, like catholicism)
