I didn't get too much into it with my Dr. because i have to go see another Dr. who will explain everything, but can someone explain what exactly they do for genetic testing? TIA!

Re: has anyone had Genetic testing?
yes i got it done... first sono is done at 12 weeks... they basically do a really long sono & measure different parts of the baby... then they prick your finger & take blood... they put those results together and tell you what your odds are of the baby having different genetic disorders such as downs, fragile x etc etc
you get another scan & blood work done around 16-18 weeks that is a tad shorter, but basically they look for the same markers on the baby -- both results are put together to give you more accurate results

Thank you! That was very helpful. So then it's not the amnio. What about if you have multiples? Does anyone know?

Re: has anyone had Genetic testing?
I just did the normal pregnancy testing (bloodwork and sonos). I was also told it wasn't as accurate with twins and could have a higher rate of false positive results. Since my tests came back fine even with the chance of false positive I did not go for further testing (amnio, cvs).
