5 months old, waking up twice at night!

So DS has been SSTN since he was 3 weeks old...at the 4 month mark, he started waking up in the middle of the night...he is now 5 months and will be 6 months old on sept 2nd...he is waking up twice in the middle of the nite!!

I am going back to work in Sept after being home for almost a year and now am scared i will get no sleep Chat Icon

I started him on rice cereal 2 times a day and he takes regular naps during the day, i pretty much EBF...if i give him a bottle, i usually pump and he will take anywhere from 4-6 oz a bottle...if BF he eats every 2 hrs...what am i missing or doing wrong?? I swaddle him still b/c he punches himself in the face or kicks his legs up which keeps him up...he usually breaks out of the swaddle and has his arms out, but sleeps from7 pm to 11, wakes up, i nurse...wakes up again at 1am, i nurse, then at 5:30 am, i nurse then up at 6:30 again b/c my 3 year old has to get ready for preschool.

Anyone have any advice? Greatly appreciate it!

the 4 month regression--DS went from STTN to waking up 2-3 times a night until he hit 7 months or so. No advice...You could CIO at 6 months if you are into that--we just let it go with DS, and eventually he outgrew it. I survived work by drinking lots and lots of caffeine.

I have no advice. DS still woke 2xs per night until 10 months. It was only then that he started to STTN. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Somehow you'll adjust and so will he.

Up until 6.5 months DS was still waking up at 4am every night wanting to nurse, so we did CIO at that point and it worked like a charm. The first night was rough- he cried for 45 minutes- but only 10 minutes the next night, and less than 5 minutes the 3rd night. By the 4th night, no waking, no crying, and now at 11.5 months he still STTN without a peep. I know CIO isn't for everyone, but I wanted to share because it worked for us!

My DD is also 5 month old and I bf and she also eats oatmeal and fruits and some vegetables. She has been STTN for a while but she used to cry randomly and I would nurse her for a bit, change her diaper and she'd go right back down. I recently bought overnight diapers (she's a size 2, they start in size 3 - a little big but they stil lwork). She has been sleeping so much better with the overnights on! I highly recommend them!

I thought long and hard about what changes I made this month, and I came up with I stopped using the FP newborn rocker and tried to get him to sleep in a crib...he would last 4 hrs in a crib before waking up...I put him back in the rocker tonight and he's been sleeping for the last 5 hrs straight...he woke up and cried, but he was able to resettle himself down within a minute! I can't believe this is what it was the whole time!
Guess he wasn't ready to part with the rocker yet!

Just some advice: I'd try to part with the rocker sooner than later. As he gets older, it will be HARDER for him to learn to self soothe and go back to sleep. You might want to consider biting the bullet and doing it now. Either way, you will see less sleep and more wake ups until he adjusts. It's just a matter of when YOU are ready to deal with it, not him.

DD is about 4 1/2 mths and she's been waking up like 5 times a night!!! She sleeps fine from 7:30 til about 2 or 3 and then she's up every 30-40 minutes just for the pacifier. I really hope this passes!!

UGH, DS is doing this also. Finally started sleeping through the night last month and now withing the past week or so he has been waking up crying really hard at around midnight and then last night at 1 and again at 4:45. At a loss at what to do.
