BCP question- I hope someone can answer this
OK So I am on Loestrin FE 24. I have been antibiotics since Monday because I have strep throat and an ear infection. I know that antibiotics can effect BCP. So I wake up this morning to good AF. I wasn't due until the 20th. So my question is, do I continue with this pack as normal or wait to AF stops and start a new pack.

Of course my doctor's office is closed Sat and Sun.

Are you sure it isn't breakthrough bleeding? Sometimes I get that, heavy at times. I would continue with the pack though. Use back-up for a month or two though!

Continue the pack. That's usually what the Drs tell you.
I was actually just going to post a q about Loestrin24 myself (I don't mean to hijack). I just started taking it this month and aunt flo just never really ended. I've been spotting (alot) for 2 weeks since aunt flo. I'm not sure if this is normal either.

Re: BCP question- I hope someone can answer this
this is funny- because I have been spotting a lot over the last couple of days. I usually get a little because I forget to take my pill a lot and sometimes end up taking two together or usually at different times each day- which I know causes spotting. I started taking them at night when I go to bed over the last month-- so I have taken one a day at the same time like clockwork-- I am a little concerned with my spotting now. I have been on the same pill for years.

I was on ortho for about 5 years and started spotting. My dr. switched my pills.

I actually had this with the generic form. I had my period every other week for 3 yes 3 months. I can't take generics they do not seem to be strong enough for me. By the 3rd month my doctor was finally convinced that it was not just my body readjusting to being on the bill after having DD! I would definitley call him and tell him what's going on!

thanks-- I am due for a check up in Sept and will def talk to my doc about it-- I don't like switching pills though cause I have had bad experiences with it-- my body is so sensitive and takes a long time to adjust. I can't even use the generic forms of BCP cause my body knows it's not the same.
eta-- sorry Jamie for any hijacking!!

Yeah, actually she then tried me on another kind, and then another kind, and I got sick on both. So eventually she said do you want to feel sick or have spotting? So I opted for spotting, and I am back to ortho.

Although I was on the patch I went through the same thing. I was on BC and ended up having to take antibiotics for my throat. I got AF really early and then I got another visit from her approximately a week and half later. It's just because of the the drug interaction but you should just continue with your BC as normal.
