 Key West
Tell me anything you can about Key West please. DH and I really want to do something for our 1 year anniversary and I am all over the place on where I want to go. I know it can't be an entire week and too much money. I hear great things about Key West. Is that something I should look into? Thanks.

 Re: Key West
I went to Key West in March! We were only able to go one night, but we made the best of it! Plenty of bars, restaurants, beaches. Whatever you do, do not miss the sunset! It is amazing! A lot of shopping! I think they have snorkeling and swimming with the dolphins too! If I remember more, I will add it.
Here are some pics: 1. DH and I on one of the decks. 2. A view from the observation deck. 3. The sunset 4. A boat just "sailing" along. Image Attachment(s):

 Re: Key West
LOVED Key West....very laid back. You can rent a scooter and transport yourself all over the island.....there is snorkling, parasailing, basically any water sport and the night life is fun

 Re: Key West
I LOVE LOVE LOVE Key West!!
Both times I was there I stayed at the Wyndham Casa Marina which is gorgeous. It has a great pool area & pool bar & grill. There's a private beach with cute guys to carry chairs for you There's a fancy restaurant and then another more casual one with a great breakfast buffet -- you won't need lunch after this. They sometimes have packages that include brunch which is less expensive then paying at the table.
There are loads of water sports, sunset cruises, you can watch the sunsets from Mallory square with street performers and artists selling their wares.
Duvall Street is lined end to end with bars.
I am not sure when your anniversary is but they have a festival for Halloween called Fantasy Fest that runs from 10/21 - 10/31. It's a load of fun but it gets VERY crowded and the prices are really high.

 Re: Key West
We did a big fishing trip there. Mainly Marlin, it is really exciting, not your average fishing day. Have fun!!

 Re: Key West
Is it better to stay at a hotel than at a management property? I am getting so confused!

Can you explain a Mgmt property? Is that like renting a condo or something? Do you get housekeeping? How long are you going for?

It is like renting a mini condo per night. This is one that was recommended highly to me:
   Center Court
We plan on going for 4 nights.

 Re: Key West
You really should get to Blue Heaven for breakfast/lunch/and/or dinner. It is a really neat place - outside with funky artwork, live music under the stars, very very laid back, casual almosphere, great for wearing cut-off and flip-flops to get over a hangover!!
I was surprised by Key West -- DH kept telling me it was laid back, so I expected something much quieter. It's kind of like Burbon Street on Duvall, lots of bars all vying for your buck. But it is fun for partying, and dancing. You have to get off the main drag if you want to relax at all -- I suggest checking out the beach, and the Little White House, and Hemingway's House, if you would like a little culture mixed in with your daquiris!! Oh and coconut shrimp and cuban sandwiches are hard to come by - I thought they would be all over the place so I was a little misled there.
  Have a great trip!!!
