Here's some info.  Not sure if any of it will help.  As far as I know, the different types are pretty interchangeable.  Just the amounts and cooking time changes.

  ETA:  You're going to be making a sauce?  If you're using canned instead of fresh, I'd probably go with the whole peeled.
