4.5 month old and help with sleeping
My DD2 is almost 5 months old and is a terrible sleeper! For the most part I can only get her to sleep 2 hours max - day or night. Usually less during the day. I am fine with her being awake during the day, but the nights are starting to catch up with me.
She is EBF and gaining very nicely. She will wake every two hours at night, sometimes every 1.5 hours, and very rarely she will go 3 hours. She is not waking up fully as if she wants to play, but the only way I am having success getting her back to sleep is nursing her. she will actively nurse and fall back asleep.
She is a very happy baby, but is not easy to soothe. She hates the pacifier and does not like to be cradled and rocked. I have tried soothing her back to sleep when she wakes up, but have been unsuccessful. When she wakes up she is all over the crib and it is impossible to get her to stay in one spot so rubbing her back to try to soothe her doesn't work either.
I am at a loss and don't think I am ready to have her CIO at this age - although I know many use this technique.
oh - and the pedi suggested trying solids, which I did and it made no difference so I stopped them for now.
My first DD was sleeping much better at this point and loved her paci so it was easy to use that and rock her back to sleep if necessary.
I am curious if anyone has any suggestions? Or has had a similar situation and can let me know there is hope in sight and one day she will sleep longer than two hours!

I'm not there yet but what about CIO in intervals? 3/5/7/10 mins. Not as harsh. When my girls fuss I console then leave them then just keep going back. It's a pita but its been working.

I have tried letting her cry for a little bit, but I am finding I can't get her to quiet back down after she's been crying without nursing her.

I did the progressive CIO when tiny tot was a little over 5months. It worked for us.
Here is what I did. HTH

Thank you! If it doesn't get better I will probably go this route once she is a bit older.
