Which Midwife would you recommend?
Dh and I are starting TTC in September I have an appt with Diane Lucks next week, and I keep hearing excellent reviews of the Gaia midwives. Which would you recommend? Why? Are there any other groups on LI that you've worked with? Thanks!!
eta: I live in central Nassau

Don't have any midwife experience, but wanted to throw some baby dust your way!

Re: Which Midwife would you recommend?
I started out seeing Susan Brockman from Gaia & I absolutely recommend her. I had to switch because of insurance and that is the only reason I didn't stay with her the whole pregnancy.
I switched to the Stony Brook Midwives. I live in central Nassau as well & I traveled to their Islip Terrace office. They were excellent & I would recommened them 100% as well if you were willing to travel.

Re: Which Midwife would you recommend?
I started with Dale at Gaia, but switched to Stony Brook Midwives, partly because they seem to have more authority at the hospital partly b/c if Dale wasn't available I couldn't deliver in Huntington & would have to go to Susan's hospital.
Can't say enough wonderful things about the SB Midwives!!! I had a fantastic experience with them & with SB Hospital.

Dale Cook! I LOVE her. I've had one home birth with her and am planning another for this October.

Thank you all for the help.
Where did you deliver? I feel like there are a lot more options in Suffolk than in Nassau...
I delivered at home. But Dale Cook's group delivers from Nassau Medical Center and Huntington Hospital.
Nassau Medical Center is the only LI hospital with a birthing tub, so if you want a water birth that is your only option other than a home birth.
