My entire office was offered a huge professional courtesy by a local cosmetic sugery practice and some of my co-workers are considering doing it. Any advice or feedback about the proceedure?

Re: has anyone had Botox?
I have not had it but I am a reality TV junkie and a lot of the women have been shown getting injections on TV...it seems like a great fix for wrinkles/ fine lines...I am 27 but in the future I would defintly do it

Re: has anyone had Botox?
I haven't had it, so that doesn't really answer your post, but I personally wouldn't do it. I am very skeptical about all the chemicals. It is a recent invention and I don't think enough time has passed for research, IMO.

Re: has anyone had Botox?
I could have gotten it for free at one job, I passed. The reasons....
How many times can you go for free? When you don't work there anymore, do you care that you can't get it anymore? Do you really want to start doing cosmetic things at a young age?
The first line from Wiki finalized it for me...
It is the most toxic protein known[1][2] with an LD50 of roughly 0.005-0.05 µg/kg. Despite this, it is used in minute doses, in some parts of the world, to treat muscle spasms. It is sold commercially under the brand names Botox, Dysport, Myobloc, Neurobloc and Xeomin for this purpose. Botox Cosmetic and Vistabel are available for cosmetic treatment. The terms Botox (Cosmetic), Vistabel, Dysport, Myobloc, Neurobloc and Xeomin are trade names and are not used generically to describe the neurotoxins produced by C. botulinum.

Re: has anyone had Botox?
I had it done twice about 5 years ago. Once before my wedding and a second time about a year later. I got great results from it and was very happy. I haven't gotten it again because I was ttc, then I was pg and now, just haven't had the money to do it. It was very quick and hardly hurt at all. Just a little pinch.

I'm considering it.
Can I come to your office and jump on that professional courtesy offer?

Re: has anyone had Botox?
I haven't had it (and I hope I don't need it for a long time, lol) but I think it's a great alternative to plastic surgery and def would do it if I needed it and had money for it. I do feel though that some people overdo it a bit and they look like freaks. One example Nicole Kidman

Re: has anyone had Botox?
I love Botox! What a lifesaver after all the sun damage I did in my early years and after inheriting my father's seriously strong frown lines! I started it when I was on the young side. My facial muscles are so strong though that I need it every 3 months. It lasts longer on most women. It gets to be a bit expensive if you need more than one area done, which I do. Since I am pregnant right now I haven't done any since TTC and will not be doing it again till I stop BF. Now the wrinkles are back and I am not too happy to see them... but it's worth it for the

Re: has anyone had Botox?
My brother gets it, lol. Seriously, it paralyzes his muscles so they give him injections in his right arm and fingers to keep it loose until the movement really starts to come back in it.
They have not used it on his face, lol.
I mean, I have heard good and bad about it -- I have never had it but it would worry me about not being able to have facial movement. Apparently, the key is doing it in VERY VERY VERY small and subtle instances. Recently, Jenny McCarthy was on Oprah talking about how she has her doc do very small amounts and how it is hard to find a doc that will do this.
The most important thing is - no matter what you do - make sure the cosmetic surgeon you are going to is BOARD CERTIFIED!!!!!!! That is extremely important and I can't stress that enough. It should state it right on their website or right in their title.
HTH! GL!

Re: has anyone had Botox?
I have, I've been getting it for about 2 years now. I don't get much and just to prevent the deep lines I've inherited from my mom. I LOVE it!

That's interesting. I know someone who had it as a treatment for migraines. It didn't really work for her, but it has helped others.
Sorry, that doesn't really answer the question, but I thought it was interesting.

Yeah, it's pretty cool... the docs at Kessler use it on a lot of traumatic brain injury patients. What can happen is their muscles and limbs can "freeze up" over time until the signals start to get back -- it can take the brain SOOOOO long to finally heal certain parts and start sending signals again to the arm, hand, leg, foot, etc. For Kenneth, his whole right side (opposite of his injury) is weak -- so, this helps to keep it nice and loose and limber until the signals get back. We stretch him everyday and wow, what a difference after the injections -- he can keep it nice and straight. They worry that if he didn't have this to keep it limber - it would curl up and stay that way which is terrible. I've seen patients with their arms totally curled inward.

I've never had it...but I would consider it when I'm older.
I don't think I would get in done now only because I'm unsure of what exactly is in there.
I figured by the time I would want/need it they would have had enough time to do research & see any long term side effects.
