40w1d appt...

Nothing, nada, zilcho. I have tried every single thing out there to help bring on labor. My OB is now concerned that the baby has not dropped even the tiniest bit. He discussed the options with me, one being induced labor - which could end in an emergency c/s - and the other a scheduled c/s.

Unless by some miracle I go on my own by Saturday, June 9th. But he is concerned that my bones just aren't open enough for the baby to drop = this is what happened to my sister, and 23 days late, after 5 days of arduous labor, she would up with an emergency c/s. I am thinking ... if this is me .... I would rather it be scheduled then to exhaust myself with an unproductive labor and wind up with an emergency surgery....

Any thoughts?

ANyway I have until next Sat. to go on my own.... I see the Dr. again on Tuesday at which point I should give him my decision.

PS - The good thing is that baby is still doing really well!!

You have a tough decision....

I have a friend who had a bad experience with induction and she told me she would wait as long as possible next time without being induced if possible (she had a lot of complications due to induction)...

I just might choose the scheduled c-section if I were you.

I had nothing and went five days late. There is hope for you! I pray for the baby to come this weekend for you!

Well good news is that the baby is fine! Hopefully you will just go on your own. I'm not sure what I would do if I were you. If the dr. thinks that chances are you might end up with an emergency c-section anyway I may choose to schedule one. It's such a tough call. Sorry I'm no help!

I'm so sorry. I'll send lots of labor vibes, and hope you go on you own this weekend. I think I would opt for a scheduled section I think, just for safety. But it's a tough call. Good luck, and so glad your little one is doing well!

I remember trying to make the same decision. No matter what, follow your gut.

I felt the same about inducing when I was pg with Nate. The doc scheduled the induction at 41 weeks. I got so scared about the possibility of a c/s, I planned to call her two days before to tell her I didn't want to do it. Well the morning I planned to call, I woke up with regular contractions and went into labor on my own. Even with going into labor on my own, there was talk of c/s bc I wasn't progressing. The doc made me sign the consent and everything, but shortly after I was ready to push.

The second time, I wanted the induction. I was so ready for the pg to be over. I ended up having an awesome experience. I got the cervadil at 10:30pm monday night. They took it out at 10:30am, let me shower and eat. Then started the pitocin around 11:30pm. I got my epi around 2pm right after they broke my water. Around 4:45 I felt the urge to push. I had to wait for the doc to get to the hospital (her office was across the street). I starte pushing around 5:10pm and the baby was born at 5:21pm.

You have time. So I say relax and keep a positive outlook. I know it's hard to do (i went through the BS today) but you have to keep a positive mind. Keep doing what you've been doing. This baby is going to come no matter what and the fact that it's healthy one is GREAT news!!!

I was wondering about you. I thought your dr. wasnt going to let you go past your due date. I am glad to see that was not the case. I hope things continue to go the way you want.

Kara! Baby is good-

I'm really praying for you and Baby P that you don't have to make this decision.

My personal POV, I would not induce. I've been doing a lot of reading about it and I'd rather have a c/s than induce. ESPECIALLY since in one of your posts you mentioned the Dr.'s were concerned about blood clots.

Inducing is not an option for me personally as my baby is breech. I'm going through, so I schedule the c/s or go into labor knowing I need a c/s as well. I'd rather the baby come naturally when she is good and ready. However, as time goes on, I'm leaning towards scheduling it.

Again, hopefully, you won't have to ponder this at all and you'll go into labor before the 9th.

I was 8 days late. After contracting for over 3 weeks, I went into labor and planned to go naturally. I went from 3-6 cms in a little over an hour. Then I didn't progress any further for 6 hours. The doc recommended a c/s, but said that I could wait if I wanted, but she was worried I would end up with an emergency section. So, I went with the c/s when she recommended it.

I was epi free for over 6 hours because i wanted to try and go naturally, but I just couldn't do it.

I think it's good to go in with a plan and try to stick to that plan. BUT, if things are happening in a differnt way, it is good to be open to other options. When the doc mentioned the c/s I just wanted my baby here nice and safely. So, I wasn't too upset about it.

So the mind set of I will go natural, it will happen is good, and then face the bridge when it comes to it.

You could next Friday is nothing happens at least have the baby further engaged and then induction is an option.

i would try hard not to make a decision today, give it a few days and some prayers.

But that's just me.

Not that I have ANY experience yet in this area, but I think I would rather has the C/S then labor through endless hours and end up having a C/S any way.

The good thing is that baby P is doing well and obviously like baking!

If I were in your shoes, I would rather schedule a c-section than labor and end up needing one anyways. I know it sucks when you want a natural birth experience, and you hear them mention c-section, but if they are thinking you will end up needing one anywas, why put yourself through the labor uneccesarily?

I wish you luck and hopefully baby will get moving within the next week and drop on his own

Oh Kara...such a tough call. I agree with your orignal thinking...if you don't have baby by x date, I would do the scheduled c-section. It would stink if you were induced...labored for hours and THEN had to have the emergency c-section anyway.

I hope baby makes an appearance soon!

Sorry it's taking so long Kara With all I went through with my pregnancy, I was happy that i went 4 weeks early! I feel for you and I'm sending you lots of labor vibes!!!
