3D Sonos
I have a question -- my OB tells me he ONLY recommends 3D sonos if there is a concern. Since he has no concerns for me, he isn't sending me for a 3D.
Those of you who have had them - did your OB just send you for them? And why?

Re: 3D Sonos
3D sonos are not necessary, they are just for fun. I got one done so I could get an early look at my baby. It was recommended to get it done between 30 and 32 weeks in order to get the best pics. If you want to do them, it is up to you, and can cost $$, but it is not something that you have to do.

Re: 3D Sonos
We got one with Sarah b/c they were really new and the tech wanted to play with the machine. Our insurance wouldn't cover it for Andy so we didn't get one.

That is probably b/c there is research out there that says unnecessary sonos may not be good for the fetus - which is why some doctors only want sonos when they are medically necessary.

Re: 3D Sonos
OK so part 2 - how much do they cost?
In regards to "unnecessary" sonos -- no, this would be in place of one of the regular sonos, so it wouldn't be an "extra" one...

I wouldn't stress if your doctor is doing them - they probably feel that there is a medical reason for them. If you are having them every 2 weeks I assume you it is b.c you are high risk or have some complications - I really wouldn't worry myself over it.

Re: 3D Sonos
The receptionist at my Ob's office filled out the script for Nassau Radiology and I asked if I could have a 3D one and she said yes and she wrote it. When I called I had to make an appointment with a tech/Dr. that was familiar with 3D sono's. My insurance covered it. I also think that an offical sonogram has to be done outside of your doctors office because everytime I go to a radiology office they tell me after 3 you need consent from your insurance company. I dont think the doctor notes that one was one on her claim
