38 weeks Are these contractions?

I know this will sound stupid but what do contractions feel like???

Since like 730 when I feel like I have to pee I get an intense amount of pressure/ pain in my lower abdomen and lower back... My entire belly gets hard but my LO is also moving and gets into 1 of her positions that makes my belly go in a funny shape and makes me uncomfortable. which that is common... It lasts like 10-20 seconds and its not happening at regular intervals at all. But Ive also never felt this before not pain in my lower abdomen/back...

Does that sound like a contraction? Or is LO just sitting on something thats hurting me?

That sounds like it may be the start. With dd my belly would tighten and as it tightened I would get a strong pms type cramp that would radiate thru my hips and then my back.

Re: 38 weeks Are these contractions?

I'm not a good person to ask. I had those contractions from 36 weeks on, every 10-20 min. At 39 weeks I was induced but when I got to the hospital, i was in active labor and 4 cms, yet i still ended up with a c/s. Go figure. Unfortunately there is no time span. time them. See if there is a pattern. More than 5 in an hr, call your dr. Good luck!!

Re: 38 weeks Are these contractions?

Sounds like it could be the very early stages of labor. It's not a stupid question bc I asked the same thing and everyone told me "oh, you'll know!". It's true... You'll know when it really starts to get going.

I had contractions every 10 mins for about 2 days and it was at its worst at night for some reason... I didn't get any sleep for 2 nights and then by the third day, the contractions finally kicked into high gear (every 5 mins or so) and I was admitted into the hospital. Had baby 6 hours later.

Ps: I dunno if this is what sped up my labor but I did a ton of walking that last day and had hot sauce LOL

If they're not regular, it can go on for a while. There's really no way to tell. Are you dilated at all?

I'm 36 weeks and have had Braxcton Hicks for a while. I never really had them with my first pregnancy. I usually have them in the late afternoon and evening. They're strong enough to be recorded during my NSTs, but not strong enough for me to be dilated yet. They've been getting stronger and more uncomfortable over the last few weeks and I've been feeling a little more crampy when I have them. I try to drink a lot of water and put my feet up and they eventually go away.

I was 1cm at my last drs appt this past week. And since about 5 am its been more frequent and stronger. It doesnt just feel like a menstrual cramp its stronger than that... Im def having contractions! Im gonna call the dr in a lil while. When they become about 5-7 min apart for how long should it go on before I call the dr?

Re: 38 weeks Are these contractions?

lol.. this was my post 3 weeks ago & yes it sounds like the start Chat Icon That's how I was too- totally inconsistant in the length of them (they didn't always last 60 min long) but they were occuring every 6-7 min or so so I went to the hosital & baby was born 4 hours later.

They start off slow & then the cramping increases in intensity & then decreases again.

38 weeks Are these contractions?

They started to be further apart again. Like 15 min or more apart... So they are totally inconsistent...

Just start walking a lot. The brown discharge is a sign of early labor! Walk and don't stop until they're 4-5 mins apart. You'll barely be able to stand at that point anyways Chat Icon don't get your hopes to high because it could still be weeks but you never know!
