37 week apt. this morning
So, Ive been carrying small all along (and everyone seems to remind me of that everyday ). Baby has been measuring about 1.5 week small for the last two visits. Well this week there wasnt any growth, as per my doctors measurement so he is sending me for a growth sono (which isnt until next Thursday). Im not very concerned since the HB was strong and I feel constant movement from this little bugger. BTDT moms, just curious to know, if they baby has stopped growing, any idea of what the protocol would be? Do they leave him/her in there? Would they take the baby? Im clueless, and a little annoyed I didnt think of these questions while still at the Dr. TIA

Re: 37 week apt. this morning
My weight gain and size has been on the low end of the range. People were making me nervous about this so I asked my doctor about it. She said that they weren't concerned because the baby was growing fine but she said that if it becomes an issue they will send me to a a nutritionist to ensure that I was eating enough etc. This was around 20 weeks though so I don't know if the course of action would be different at 37 weeks.

Re: 37 week apt. this morning
since you are already past 36 weeks, i believe if there is no growth they will deliver you. im not a doctor, but i delivered my baby at 33w due to pre-eclampsia. the pre-eclampsia is a placental disease and she was measuring 1.5-2w behind when i was admitted to the hospital. they didn't ultimately deliver her because of the intra-uterine growth restriction (IUGR), but slow growth or lack of growth is a sign of the placenta malfunctioning for one reason or another. so if you are full term i dont see why they would risk keeping you pregnant any longer, especially if the baby isn't growing consistently.
do you have any symptoms of anything that would signal a placental issue? for pre-eclampsia the signs are rapid weight gain, swelling, headaches, vision issues and protein in the urine. good luck!

I have no idea! I will have to look up placental issues and see. No preclampsia..Ive gained a total of 19 lbs. and do not have any swelling! Thanks so much for your response. I have a growth sono, but not until Thursday!

Re: 37 week apt. this morning
I almost hate replying because I don't know for sure, but this is my guess based on something our peri-natologist mentioned when we asked what reasons there would be for docs to take a baby early...
He said that sometimes the environment that the baby is in no longer is helping the baby and the baby would be better off outside the womb.
I DON'T KNOW if this is your case, but to the layman (me), it kind of sounds like maybe?
I guess they're basing they're decision on the growth sono. Whatever it is, they're doing what's best for our babies!
Maybe you can call and at least speak a nurse to clarify the situation so you don't have any questions/concerns lingering?
Good luck!

Re: 37 week apt. this morning
I've been measuring small all along, was pretty concerned about the baby's size and fluid levels. My last appt I was measuring over 3 weeks behind, but I had a growth sono and the baby is growing just fine and the fluid is fine. At 37 weeks if there is an issue I would think they would take the baby, you're considered full term. I know it's easier said then done, but try not to worry too much. You're so close to the end that either way the baby will be ok Just make sure to monitor kicks and movement for your peace of mind.
