EEK! a mouse!

We just saw a mouse in our home office. Anyone know a safe way to get rid of it with a toddler in the house?

We're dealing with a mouse problem too, we've already caught a few. We have used the boxes that actually catch them as well as snap traps. The snap traps have been more effective. We only put them out after DS goes to bed and DH retreives them before leaving for work in the morning.

We're having an issue now also. Chat Icon Chat Icon We use the covered snap traps from D-Con. DH baits them with peanut butter and puts them against the baseboard usually behind some furniture so the kids (and dog) can't get to it.

Re: EEK! a mouse!

Do you have a basement? If you do and there is a place in the basement where your kids/animals don't go, you can put down that food they eat, go find water and then are poisoned. I know, it sounds terrible.

There is another thing, it's kind of "humane"..there are these "sticky" traps - super adhesive and when the mouse steps on them they get stuck. But then you have to deal with a live mouse stuck on the pad.

We just had the same problem last week. We used a glue trap where we saw him and sure enough we got him the next day. Unfortunately, DH had to kill him since once they get stuck on the trap, they're pretty much dead anyway.

We are having the same problem. I think its because it got so cold so fast. We got one in a glue trap and I thought we were done but today saw some more indications of activity. I cant stand it.

Re: EEK! a mouse!

Do you have a basement? When we lived in our basement apartment, we could hear them running around on the ceiling. THe landlord stuck a couple snap traps with cheese up on the drop tiles and got them all that way.

Snap traps plus peanut botter and stick a chocolate chip in there....the mouse will try to long to get the chip and you will get the bugger everytime. Make sure you do it at night and wake up in the am and pick all the traps up.

I agree.... snap traps... don't get the sticky pads, they're very unhumane... they literally struggle until they die of exhaustion Chat Icon not to mention kids and pets get stuck on those pads too Chat Icon

I agree...

We don't have any mice (knock on wood) but we do have a cat. We've seen what he does to the mouse catnip toys. You would think he was after a real mouse. He stalks it, then sneaks up on it and attacks...Chat Icon

I know mice are a nuisance, but all this mouse killing made me sadChat Icon But then again, you're talking to the person who made my husband individually trap the family of squirrels in our attic and drive them to the exact same location so they could find each other againChat Icon
