When you are 40 (if you aren't yet) will you want to know how your college friends turned out?

Many of you already know that several people from my college dorm have been speaking on facebook. I have great memories. Check out this "boudoir" picture that one of the guys had of me, circa 1988!


There are now hundreds of photos posted of people I knew back in school. Ok, so why am I asking if you would want to know what everyone is up to? Clearly, I am glad to have made these connections again. Everyone from my crowd is doing great. I was already in touch with some of them, but now we have re-connected with many others. The reason I ask is that we found out something very disturbing about our Residence Hall Director. This is the guy who was a bit older than we were and he was like the babysitter for the whole dorm. Well, so much for background checks. He had been student government president when he was an undergrad. student. Well, even before that, as a teen, he was caught molesting a younger kid at home. Then, when he was our RHD he did a lot of volunteer work with kids. He was later arrested and did 15 days in jail for a sex abuse related charge. Finally, in 2001, he was in jail on several charges of child sex abuse (and some things related to that). He was facing a lot of jail time but he committed suicide at the Riverhead jail. This freaks me out. He was the guy in charge of making sure that no one went too overboard with the dorm parties. He was supposed to be the moral person we could go to if we needed to talk!! I went to bed last night wondering if I really even needed to find this out so many years later. Yes, I did verify that this is true! Those of us who did not know about this are freaked out!!!! I keep thanking my lucky stars that the rest of my crew turned out great. For all the partying we did, and we did a lot, we were really a good group of smart, successful kids--except for our wacko RHD who obviously had some terrible demons.

One of our RA was a screw up too. He used to hit his girlfriend so I guess he thought it was ok. When something happened to me & he did nothing, my friend's RA turned him in.

I know what you mean about the sex abuse thing. Henious. I worked in an orphanage for a summer in Mexico. When I goggled it to see how they were doing, SNAP's ( Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests) website came up. I found out that the priest running it was brought up on sex abuse charges.

Our RD was a cokehead. It wasn't a secret. He left after the first year and was replaced by a complete witch. ALL of RA's were knuckleheads... but they were college kids with the same drama as the rest of us.

I'd be seriously freaked out to find out that anyone I lived with back then was a child molester though.



ETA: HOT pic! I think I had the same high tops and I KNOW I was sporting that sweater at one time!

I used to try to shine up my white Reebs. I was horrified about the way these looked in the picture until I looked at all the other pictures. Every single person wore white sneakers and they must have been impossible to keep clean.

I believe those were my favorite Guess jeans. They shrunk in length but when I wore them with hi-tops, it was hard to tell.

In one of the videos from my college life, I am attending a meeting of all the residents of my dorm and I am wearing thermal long johns with a printed pattern on them!!!!!!

Yuck, that story would leave me majorly skeeved. It is horribly disturbing.

I have recently reconnected with a boatload of my sorority sisters through Facebook. I am less than 2 years away from being 40 and it seems as if we all turned out to be pretty decent human beings. However, I think I aged VERY well:

I'm 41, and there is one friend I am trying to locate. We both moved and lost touch with one another, and I would like to know how she is doing.

As for the others, not really. We were friends of the moment I would say, but not true friends.

ugh that IS creepy...i almost would not want to know that..thank god you never had any instances with him...

speaking of creepy, i went to park shore day camp and the older counselors called them selves "uncle so and so"

i just found out undle barry is doing time in florida for sexual assault on a child...

things like that are so disturbing..especially when you think someone is so moral
