Re: 3 mth sizes
3 months usually means 0-3 months. It goes up to about 12 lbs. The 3-6 months is the next size up and goes up to about 17 lbs. It's just an estimate though. DS exceeded the weight limits, but could still fit into certain clothing for a while b/c he's on the shorter side.

Re: 3 mth sizes
For my DD it meant this:
0-3's fit her until she was about 3.5 months old, then she went through a growth spurt and everything was too short for her (pants, and onesies)
3-6 months were too big on DD when whe was 3-5 months old, so she wore alot of regular 3 month sizes (again, in pants mostly) She's now 6 months and was actually wearing 3 month size onesies up until 2 weeks ago. 3-6 month pants are now starting to get too short on her and some onsies are starting to get tight and short.
