3 month old sleeping 12 hours??
So I know I shouldn't complain but my 3 month old DD has been sleeping 11-12 hours...is this normal??? She had been swaddled until about 2 weeks ago and would sleep from about 8 to maybe 5am(which was great!) She started waking up though aound 3 am breaking out of the swaddle. She would always go back to bed until around 7:30-8:00 after feeding. Well since we unswaddled her she has been sleeping straight thru from 8pm to 7:30-8:00am!
She is the worst napper ever though and I think since we unswaddled her she is even worse. She will get tired for a nap but will nap (if we are lucky) for 20 mins. She goes down no problem for bedtime but naps take forever....going in to put binky back in or to turn back on sleep sheep. I try to catch it in time before she shows signs of being tired, but sometimes it will seem like it's not even an hour and 1/2 later before she wants to sleep. Then when I put her down she'll sleep for like 5 mins, then start fussing. When I go in, she'll be wide awake and smiling and won't go back to sleep! Then she'll end up cranky bc she is tried a 1/2 hr later! It's a vicious cycle!
Should we wake her earlier so she'll nap during the day?? That seems crazy to do though! I go back to work in a week so I def want her sleeping thru the night, but my mom will be watching her during the day and I feel bad if she'll be a cranky mess w/ no naps!
Anyone have similiar issues with their 3 month old?

Re: 3 month old sleeping 12 hours??
DD is 11 weeks today and usually sleeps from 10:30 p until 4:30 a then goes back to sleep until 7:30 or 8 am. Last night, she went 9 pm until 5 am (fabulous!! I was so sure she'd get up early because she went down early, but she didn't!)
I have noticed her naps have changed recently, though. She usually takes one long one (2 hours maybe) and 3 or so short 30 minute or less naps.
I don't know if it's normal, but it's just how it is. She will play herself sometimes quietly though when I put her down if she doesn't sleep.

Don't wake her!!! You are super lucky! My DS is 3.5 months and was sleeping for 10-12 hours a night at 2(ish) months. He doesn't nap during the day though, so that's why he was SO tired. He hasn't been sleeping so well for the past 2 nights and I really hope he goes back o sleeping fom 7-7 VERY sooon!

At that age I would let her sleep. Her naps should get longer and on a better schedule. Be thankful you are getting long stretches at night.

Re: 3 month old sleeping 12 hours??
My DD is 3 months and since we stopped swaddling her (2 weeks ago) she now sleeps about 11hrs a night. Usually from about 8:30-7:30am. She takes one long nap in the morning after her 1st bottle (sometimes up to 2 hrs) and then cat naps the rest of the day. I am fine with less sleep during the day as long as she sleeps through the night. I would 100% NOT wake her

I would not wake her. My DD who is 3 months sleeps from 10-7 and does not take naps during the day she will fall asleep after every feeding for maybe 20 min. I think a lot of babies just have a lot of different sleeping habits. My DS would sleep good at night and take 2 long naps during the day but my DD is a totally different baby.

Re: 3 month old sleeping 12 hours??
DS was like this at this age too. Great night sleeper, HORRIBLE napper. I'd rather let him STTN, so I dealt with the cat naps. He is a great napper now & has been since around 6 months. I've also have never had issues with him STTN.
Let her sleep!

Re: 3 month old sleeping 12 hours??
Thanks so much for the responses! I am very happy to hear she is not the only terrible napper!! I am def not going to wake her. I was able to get her down her a few (very brief) naps today, but I just figure if I keep trying and at least just get her in the crib for a little while, we're setting up a routine anyway. Hopefully as she gets older, she'll be more tired during the day!
