3 day potty training and pull ups
Did anyone do the 3 day method for potty training but do pull ups at night. It is day 3 for is here and it is going great, but I have been doing pulls ups at night (not for naps though). Just curious what worked best for others. I feel like it is mixed messages....

Re: 3 day potty training and pull ups
I followed the program as is. Including - no pull-ups.
N went from peeing through his diapers WITH a diaper doubler, to being completely dry through the night with no diaper or pull-up.
I know many love pull-ups, but really they're just glorified diapers. If you're telling D "no more diapers" you're sending mixed messages by putting one on him at night.
Do it Mama! You & D can do this!
Of course, with all that said... pull-ups work for many people. So I can't knock it. I just figured get it all done at once.

It's not him...it is definitely me. I don't want to wake up or do loads of extra laundry

I potty trained DS in two days, but put him in pullups at night for about 4 months. He had a brand new mattress and I wasn't about to have accidents in it.
He never had any issue with the pullups, and never had an accident with them on.
If you don't want to do pullups, try Huggies Goodnights disposable pads. You can line the mattress with them under the sheet and it will catch any accidents.
I have a whole package if you want me to send you one or two to try out.

I hear ya!
Trust me, I felt the same way too. The kid was a peeing machine. You'll be surprised how well he does.

New mattress for N too - just a simple waterproof mattress cover does the trick. Toss it in the wash with the rest of the stuff.

Re: 3 day potty training and pull ups
I would invest in a waterproof mattress cover. I bought one from Kohl's. It's nice, soft, and not that crinkly plastic.
Your child WILL have an accident when they are out of pull ups.

We have a waterproof mattress cover. I am not worried about the mattress. It's stripping the bed, washing the comforters etc. It's extra work that I wouldn't necessarily need to do.
He still likes a cup at night. This morning (the 3rd day) he woke up with pee and poop in his pull up....BUT he woke up at like 5am and came into our room and neither of us got up. Totally our fault! He didn't ask to go though...this is a regular occurrence. He is just an early riser.
I am leaning towards staying with pull ups for a little while if it means his daytime training won't get ruined.

If he has a cup at night, I wouldn't go without a pull up then. You need to eliminate liquids after like 6pm or so if you want them to stay dry overnight.

Re: 3 day potty training and pull ups
My granddaughter Is getting potty trained now. My daughter uses a pullup when they are out and she will tell her when she has to "go" but she has noticed the pullups are causing a rash on her bottom. The ped had told not to put pullups on for overnight because of problems with rashes. She uses a regular diaper at night. Wakes up dry most of the time, depending on when she Drank before bed and if she peed right before bed.

Re: 3 day potty training and pull ups
We did 3 day potty training when DS was 2.5 and he did great.
Was completely day time potty trained in the 3 days and never had an accident since.
However, when he sleeps he is dead to the world.
For a while, he had accidents when he napped (unless you made him go before napping)
And, till this day (he is 4.5 now) he is still not night trained.
We tried no pull-ups for 3 weeks, and after 3 weeks of changing sheets every night, we went back to pull-ups. Every few months we would do no pull-ups again for a month, but he just can't do it.
The dr. said that night time training is a completely different thing than day training.
So long story short. I would try no pull-ups, but he may not get it and don't stress if he doesn't.
DS is completely fine during the day and is not confused at all.
he wears pull-ups at night.

Re: 3 day potty training and pull ups
Thanks so much the responses Funny how it is so different for everyone!
We are working on the sippy cup at night. It is a comforting thing for him. He goes ballistic without it. I have started filling it only halfway and will decrease it slowly over the next couple of weeks.

Re: 3 day potty training and pull ups
We did 3 day potty training and I did the night time too... BUT... I did do the pull ups at night. I followed EVERYTHING ELSE STRICT and I even did undies at night for the first 3 days, but I was exhausted getting up every hour and bringing her to the potty. She never saw a pull up before... and I don't call them diapers or pull ups. I call them Night time undies. She usually 98% of the times wakes up to go potty at night, but there are some times she wakes up and her night time undie is a little damp for peepees leaking out, in case she dosen't get to the potty in time or just doesn't wake up. I would hate to have to change the sheets every time this happened eventhough its is only once in a while and I do change her sheets more often then it happens lol . She was 100% trained in 3 days at 26 months with few mistakes after. Its just the night time more for me I hate to change her sheets ever night god forbid she did have an accident.

No pull ups and had a few nights of accidents but by the four night he got it. I would get rid of pull ups.

3 day potty training and pull ups
DD was 2.5 when we did this and it worked out great. We did not use pulls ups. By the second day she was peeing in the potty(which they say is the harder of the two) and by the end of day 3 she was trained. She has had a few accidents here and there, but honestly she's done great.
I would follow the method as is, so it doesn't confuse them. It's really just you being scared and not wanting to have to deal with accidents. I told myself I need to do it and stick with it, there will be accidents, I cannot get upset.

Re: 3 day potty training and pull ups
I do diapers at night.
Been doing it for months.
No confusion with DS. He's 2.5. He can't go without peeing at night (never had a dry diaper). He stays dry all day in underwear.

Re: 3 day potty training and pull ups
DD has been potty trained for a year and sleeps in a pull up. I potty trained at 8 months preg and couldnt deal with the idea of being woken up for pee, when I was up all night nursing a newborn.
She usually wakes up dry, so we put her in underwear on occassion, but those are of course the nights where she "forgets".
