2nd time around and your previously used pump?
I have the Medela Freestyle that I used for a few months with my daughter about 18 months ago. I keep reading about getting new parts when you have a second baby. Why is this? Anything that came into contact with milk/fluid has been sterilized thoroughly and stored safely. What would I replace and why?
Thanks, I'm just a little confused about this!

I have the Medela Pump & Style. I bought a new accessory kit (about $25 on Amazon) that includes the shields, membranes, etc. and I also bought new tubing. I have my old parts washed and stored as well, but they can still get grimy or if you didn't wash them 110% perfectly there could be some bacteria that grew on them. I just decided for $25 it was worth starting fresh.

I called Medela before my second DC was born to ask about this and they told me as long as everything was in good condition, no mold/mildew etc that nothing needed to be replaced.
