Daycare: I don't know what to do.. HELP
So I called the place I ‘want’ to use.
Did a tour, met the people. Nice.
I am officially on the waiting list.
What does that mean, I wondered? Basically if a spot comes open they start down the waiting list. They call once or twice a month to remind you that you’re on the list and to see if you want to say on the list.
But there’s no guarantee you’ll get a spot.
So of course… I’m freaking out. I don’t want to use another place. Should I start looking just in case. If I do find another place with an opening do I have to take it? If I have to leave a deposit (no refundable) is it worth it?
Ugh!!!
Mind you, I’m talking about dropping off the kid in JANUARY!

Re: Daycare: I don't know what to do.. HELP
I am in the same situation. The preschool I wanted to send my ds to is all fill for the am classes so therefore they put me on a waiting list. However I knew I wanted to deff. put him in some where so when I started to look around many classes were getting full for Sept. already so I just signed him up for anther school. If something happens and the 1st school calls I would probably just forget about the enrollement fee I had paid and let him go there only if school hasn't started yet. Otherwise if school has started then he will just stay there.

Maybe you can find a private person who is willing to watch DC in case there are no opening at the daycare in time and then when an opening comes up switch DC

Re: Daycare: I don't know what to do.. HELP
At my school you are put on a waiting list after paying the non refundable registration of $125. Its done on a first come first serve basis; so if you put your deposit down after the Robinson's then I will only call you if a spot opens up and the Robinson's decline (or if 2 spots open up obviously)
Currently at my school I have no infant opening until February, and I have 2 families on the waiting list
I will also say, in my time in this field- I often find that parents enroll there children and then when it comes time to actual start, mommies decide to be SAHM's.
So usually at least 1-2 spots open up.
I would have a back up plan, even if that means losing a deposit somewhere else...

Thanks everyone
I'm so freaking out, now I need to start looking around (again).
We have no one to care for our baby but us. Funny how I hear negative things about my Dad from my step-FIL but I dont see him volunteering to help out with my baby!
My father is 5 states away and he's at least coming up and staying with me for a week prior to my due date and two weeks after. My dad would so take my child for day care permanently if he lived here or I lived there. *sigh*
