NOT GUILTY on ALL counts!!!!
 Finally some justice for our police officers!
ETA: Like my husband and his friends say, he would rather be judged by 12 (in this case by 1) than carried by 6.

do they get to go back to work now?
Unfortunately, they most likely have lost their jobs, their pensions, everything. I feel sorry for their families, especially their children.
ETA: They will most likely be sued in a civil trial next and the victims of the shooting will be awarded millions of dollars

wouldn't they have to be reinstated, since they were found not guilty?? it seems like they should be able to go to back to work....

If I were them, I would never go back to work for the NYPD. With all the risks of being a cop today I just don't see how people do it. Not only are you risking your life every day, but then you also risk being brought up on criminal charges for doing your job. It really is a shame.

I would be surprised if they didn't go back to work. It would be the NYPD turning their back on their own- after an acquittal. At the very least, I would guess they would be on desk duty for a while.

wouldn't they have to be reinstated, since they were found not guilty?? it seems like they should be able to go to back to work....
Right now I think they are still being payed but more than likely they will be brought up on dept. charges being they didnt follow protocol and procedures in some areas (which could happen to any police officer on the job). But just b/c they broke dept. procedures, doesnt mean they broke the law. Technically, they have not broken any law.

This is how I feel everyday when DH goes to work. He could have been put in the same position. That is why in the NYPD it's 20 and out!

Seems like things are pretty orderly down there.
These cops did the right thing. They are taught to keep themselves safe. I'm glad the law stood behind them. I'm still sorry for the Bell family.

I have to agree. I still think it was excessive and the situation could have played differently for all involved. I think there needed to be some accountability somewhere.

I thought about that b/c I knew you would say this...It comes down to Right or wrong for me. Not if he was a Cop. If he was a cop that was THERE that night, who knows how I feel, but he wasnt, so I take the facts that I know....( I dont claim to know all of them as I didnt hear certain testimony) and made a decision based on what I knew...
My Dad was NYPD for 27 yrs...

Many members of my family are on the job. I pray none of them ever have to make such a decision, and I pray for the families of these men. It is sad and unfortunate, but I do still think there should have been some measure of accountability. JMHO

I understand that your DH is a cop so your opinion may be "biased" but sometimes, cops DO abuse their power. Sad but true - not saying it was necessarily in this case.
