Also, how long do kids usually ride in the stroller?

My DD's are 1 month shy of 3 years apart so I got the City Select. It can convert to so many things....but it is a single stroller when you purchase it. I am using it right now with the carseat attachment.

I would def. think so if they're under 2 but depends on if your oldest likes the stroller.
My children are over 4, 2.5 and 8 months and I still use my double for my 2 eldest who are 19 months apart. And I also use it for my 2 youngest who are almost 2 years apart.

mine are now 1 and 3 and still sit in the stroller - the 3 year old is starting to object, but he'll still sit if he's tired, or I bribe him w/ snacks Chat Icon
I have the city mini and my only complaint is that you can't get to the under basket

Absolutely necessary!

When 3yo DS is alone, he always walks. If we go out with his younger brother and his brother is sitting in the stroller, he wants to sit in the stroller too.

We don't use the double often but it is totally necessary for trips. Not only does DS#1 want to sit in it, it is easier to move them around with both kids strapped in.

You have to know your oldest... Mine is like superhuman or something and although she and her sister are only 20 mos apart, I never bought a true double. I did have a Sit and Stand which I probably used no more than 15 to 20 times. She walked holding onto the single.

Now, my youngest one is 19 mos now and I can't IMAGINE him doing that. No way!

Yes...my 4 yr old still hops in on occasion when we are out somewhere and there is a lot of walking...but it is used for my 3 yr old and 5 month old mostly

Mine are 17 months apart. BUT my son is now 22 months & he won't be ready to walk everywhere until next summer.

I use my double for malls, amusement parks & going to the park. Much of the time, I use a baby carrier for my youngest and have DS (older) walk.

My girls are 23 months apart and I would say YES it was definitely needed. It helped when going to a store etc to have them both in the stroller rather than pushing one and chasing one. Plus the double was really handy when I wanted to go places like the zoo, aquarium etc. Also makes it easier when you are alone.

Re: 22 mo apart, is double stroller necessary?

I got one for my kids who are 25 months (almost 26 months apart) and used it a lot. I think we used it from DDs birth until she was a little over 1 1/2 and DS was 3 1/2. At this point I still have DD (2 1/2) in the single stroller and if DS gets tired from walking he will stand on the foot steps on the back. DS is 4 1/2 almost 5. We actually just gave our double stroller away today to a new mom of twins in DHs office.

Yes...mine are 21mths apart...and now 4 and 2 and I occasionally still use the double (vacations, mall, etc.) It was a must when my youngest was first born
