 | Forgive me if this is a stupid question..What is the difference between a Co OP and a COndo???  coops you own a share of a corporation that owns the buidings (proportionate to the size of your apartment)

 You also may have more freedom with a condo (such as knocking down walls, renovations, etc) Friends that have co-ops usually need Board approval for all of that

The # of shares is based on the size of our apartment.  We need board approval to make any structral changes to our place.
